Adwords, my mistake. I keep mixing those two up in conversation.

I see where you're coming from, I'll see what I can do to redirect the economy article's focus to interest a potential client. The original reason we started writing these articles was simply to increase our volume of content (how many different times can you list the services you provide and why we're the best, you know?), while hopefully adding relevancy with keywords regarding remodeling, roofing etc. Your point on narrowing it down to things of particular impact to a homeowner is well taken.

Our site is definitely a work in progress, and I'm looking forward to your further feedback on honing the site into a powerful marketing tool. Until now, it has functioned well as an informational site on the other end of craigslist ads. About 50% of our traffic is referral from craigslist. The other 50% is half AdWords, half google organic.

P.S. That's great, Silvertree, good to see your work is paying off!

Re: Google Seminars For Success...

In between posts I see some of us write content. Admittedly, I'm no Scott Fitzgerald, but I have had people tell me my articles communicate well to them. How about a little on the actual writing some time?
Anyone can write

Today's kitchen is not your Grandma's kitchen, whether you install Cherry cabinets or maple cabinets the most important detail for your kitchen design is whether your cabinets style fits your home

Keyword rich, but no fun.

Action, even if it is not 100% accurate is better than doing nothing at all. I think you did the right thing by getting ANYTHING up and going.

(how many different times can you list the services you provide and why we're the best, you know?)
Perhaps 1000 times, if you get a little creative. Example:

Change the imaginary person you are talking to from each article with the same subject and spin it in their directional to help them solve their problem, ie;

The single parent,

The fireman,

The person that has an income of less than 30K,

The person that has an income of over 100K,

Women as a group,

Men as a group,

New home owners as a group,

Empty nesters as a group, etc.

As many classifications of humans as you can think of, because they all have different concerns when someone is coming into their homes to remodel.

I am glad that I was able to articulate the point well enough. If you get nothing else from this thread, you will be ahead of the game.

Well, I am not getting the results I anticipated in the keyword research. All the results coming back seem to be so broad, I have yet to determine the best way to attack the problem, at least in an efficient manner.

Until I can get this figured out, go here and make sure your business is added.

Re: Google Seminars For Success...

Ok. Had to come up with a different attack.

When I searched:

custom kitchen design Minneapolis,

there were only two of your competitors on the front page. The rest were service magic and others like that. These are the two:

Northstar
Sawhill

Now, the two had better SEO than even service magic and the some of the others, who are very hard to beat because their sites are so extensive.

So what I did then was to find out what kw's their sites are optimized for and up came this list:

kitchen and bath
kitchen and bath design
kitchen and bath designers minnesota
kitchen and bath tile
kitchen and bath tiles

In order to beat these the sites on the front page we are gonna have to piggy back some PageRank form a site that is older and just as relevant as yours.

We will do this with http://ezinearticles.com/

to start. They have a strong PageRank and Google regards them highly, as an expert site, so to speak.

So, Paul, write an article using the kw's above, 1 each, then get them on your site when your web guy can get to it.

The subdomains where they will be housed should look like this:

www.silvertreeconstruction.com/kitchen_and_bath

www.silvertreeconstruction.com/kitchen_and_bath_design

so on and so forth.

Once you have the articles on your site, we will then submit them to the ezine directories to get some link juice form them. Omit the last one (tiles), no need to be redundant.

Do you have analytics installed on each of your pages?

Do you have analytics installed?

Do you send all your adwords traffic to the same page?

What page do you send them to?

Great, you have it for the homepage. Now put it on every page. The information you get from it will tell you exactly what kw's you need to expand upon and build out.

Do you know what "Quality Score" is?

If not, you need to. IT IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAY FOR PPC ADVERTISING. AND THE COST DIFFERENCE WILL BE SIGNIFICANT.

I don't know how much you are spending now, but you are not getting your monies worth if all your ads have the same destination url.

Learn about it here:

Do you guys have Google Talk?

If you will download it (real lite on your machine) we can talk a little about some of the things that are harder to understand and there is just a few things you will not want to put out in public.

Get it here:

Re: Google Seminars For Success...

I'm not sure what my best keywords are. I have gotten thousands of impressions with only 8 clicks last month. That could be because I raised my budget. I didn't want to waste money when I didn't have a good website or the right targets.
