Google Maps 10 Listings.

I have 3 listings on Google maps, can I change my listings like
St Paul Kitchen remodeling
Mpls kitchen remodeling
White Bear kitchen remodeling
ect, all going to my website, or will Google dock me for this?

Not sure, but I have a lot of domains (vancouverdeckbuilder.com, vancouverdecks.com, etc...) that all go directly to my main deck building website and I still get good results on google. I haven't put them all into google local yet though.

Should you try first or should I?

I'm looking into it, I have 13 domain names myself. My traffic is OK, but I would like more.

Do all 13 Domains forward to the main site?

I can't answer your question, but it seems as if it would be Black Hat and found out and the penalties would be too severe if they dropped your sits.

Re: Google Maps 10 Listings.

Google ads are real picky! Google does not like URL re-directs and you may be paying something thats not working real well. Check your stats in your hosts control panel to see where your hits are coming from. You're better off making strong meta tags on all URL directories from the main site you want everyone to go to. Does not have to be the homepage, just get to the site. make sense?

Re: Google Maps 10 Listings.

As long as the companies are legit google is ok with it.

One of the ways google evaluates the listing is to see if it is listed on any internet "yellow page" sites.

The sites google pays attention to (and so should you) in no particular order are:

superpages.com
yellowpages.com
yp.yahoo.com
yelp.com
yp.aol.com
switchboard.com
dexknows.com
magicyellow.com
local.com
yellowbook.com
citysearch.com

Most of these sites offer a free listing. In addition to getting listed... in order for google to get your address info right (for google maps) make sure that the addresses to each business is consistant through out your listings. If there are slightly different address's listed google gets a bit confused and the chances of you getting in the top 10 are reduced.

The big guns out of the group are superpages and yellowpages. One's owned by Verizon the other by ATT. If you're deciding which one to target 1st I'd see which carrier is stronger in your local area. That's the one that I'd be paying attention to first and maybe even upgrading to a small paid listing for that one too.

If these sites/businesses are not legit and google does some pokin' around you will have an issue. However if the sites are real businesses and even though they share the same address location it's ok.

If you're trying to game google it's just not worth it.... especially with the fact that local search is turning burning hot right now. My crystal ball says the next big battle will be local and the casualties wont be website business but the brick and morter guys that'll live or die.

Youll also notice google is paying attention to customer reviews. In most cases they pull those reviews from other review sites. The big ones these days are the ChefMOZ dining guide, restaurantrow.com nola.com and searchmaryland.com

Google loves reviews and they are making it a point to focus on all business (starting with a focus on restaurants) but they will use that tool to help differentiate themselves from the offline yellow pages and in doing so help bury those thick, yellow soon to be door stop books.

Dont think just google. You also should get on board with yahoo and msn local. Check out yahoo... they now offer a sort by reviews!

If you have any questions just give me a shout
John

Re: Google Maps 10 Listings.

I am using my blog site and my company site listed separately and both have their own domain.
I was just wondering if I could put something like
Kitchens by Silvertree
Baths by Silvertree
Master suites by Silvertree
Interiors remodeling by Silvertree

Something like that

Hi Silvertree- good to hear from you.

Let me make sure I understand...

You have 2 different domains, 1 is your site the other is your blog and your wondering if you can list both domains separately on local search. As an example 1 baths by silvertree and the other kitchens by silvertree.

Is that right?

Re: Google Maps 10 Listings.

Yes I have 2 sites up and running, plus I have www.wowkitchens.net that I think goes to my site.
On Google maps I have silvertreeconstruction and minneapoliskitchenremodeling (both paid for hostings and dot coms).

I would like to have a listing that says something like Minnesota interior remodeling silvertree construction, along with my other Google listings.
They do say you can have 10 listings.
I have photos and some info on G maps so far and I think it looks great when I google Mpls kitchens and I come up on top.

got it-

first off you have:
silvertreeconstruction
minneapoliskitchenremodeling
Minnesota interior remodeling silvertree construction

Looks like 3 seperate niche markets to me. And who knows niches better then google

Couple more things...

Kudos on Mpls kitchens nice bit of traffic a month (500+) and rank over a coupl' million other sites. Sweet!

I'd respectfully suggest spliting up your individual blog posts a bit. What I mean is I'd make them easier to read with heading and subheads and include bolding certian things to make it easier on the eye to read.

After all if you'r ranking well and you're getting trafic the other part of that equation is conversion. So if you make it a bit easier to read for old guys like me I'm sure you'll get more visitors to your business.

Hope that helps

looks great.

I'd suggest having a read of http://www.contractortalk.com/f12/he...ijacked-59636/ to verify your google local and make sure it doesnt get hijacked.

No kidding the way local is heating up competitors are literaly hijacking their competitors local listings. It's horrible.

So protect your self and follow the 3 easy steps at http://www.contractortalk.com/f12/he...ijacked-59636/

Keep up the good work silvertree!
