~~Google Impressions??~~

....earlier this evening we received an e-mail from Google giving us an update about a new feature in our Google account. This update, was followed by a chart that broke down "impressions" in the past 30 days (there's also a Last 7 days view as well). My question is, what exactly is an "impression"? From what I understood it to be, it's simply the amount of time our site comes up when people submit a search through Google. Did I understand correctly?
It showed that in the past month we had 3,141 impressions, which seems pretty high (which is always a good thing).

Re: ~~Google Impressions??~~

Yes, impressions are each time your listing appeared in the results.
This new feature (reports) is in the Google Local Business Center account. So these are the results that are returned on a map or under the local result listings.

3000+ is a lot for the default period, 30 days. It also shows further actions, like a click on the request directions link, and click to your website.

Here's what is shows for one of the specialty sites I manage.
Quote:
402 impressions
How many times users saw your business listing as a local search result

30 actions
How many times users showed interest in your business listing

11 Clicks for more info on Maps 5 Clicks for driving directions 14 Clicks to your website

Re: ~~Google Impressions??~~

Which sites does Google send out that information to?

This is the first I heard of them initiating contact with profiling statistics.

Would that be sites listed in Google Local, or just any random listing search?

Re: ~~Google Impressions??~~

Impressions are a good indications of popularity of your search words.
Click Through Rate (CTR) a percentage of impressions representing clicks.

3000 impressions a month is not high, I think.
I just checked last month for us:

112,687 Impressions
990 Clicks
0.88% CTR, I don't think that's a good CTR

You had 990 clicks?
No your click through isn't great.

George from the 990 clicks how many requests do you get for estimates?

I get about 20% requesting quotes.

If i get 990 clicks and 20% requesting quotes i would be swamped.

20% conversion rate? Wow, that's great!

990 visits were from PPC only.
Our main site gets about 3,500 to 4,000 visits a month now.
We get a request for estimate every twenty visits or so.
Now the other sites get us some leads too, but nothing like our main one.
And yes, we are getting too many leads and we are overwhelmed,
but I think that's a good problem to have these days.
