Google Ad Words & CTR
I know these questions probably depend a lot on what field your in.
Question 1: For those of you using (& tracking) Google adwords - what do you consider as a successful CTR (click through rate) percentage from your ads? Question 2: What do you consider an acceptible bounce rate? |

Re: Google Ad Words & CTRQuote:
ctr: 2-3% is acceptable. I have gotten 50% on some keywords bounce rate 50-60%. I am happy with 30% or lower I takes a long time to perfect it. It's a job of its own. Last edited by rbsremodeling; 05-09-2009 at 10:12 AM. |

Re: Google Ad Words & CTR
1.28%
. I'm at 11/857 over the course of two weeks. Some days I get 4 clicks, some days I get 0. My budget is $750/month and my clicks are between $3-5 each and going up. Could my budget be limiting my rank? I've gotten 1 job for $375

Stefan
There are a lot of variables those %'S are typical when you start out. after every few days you have to look at which words or terms are working and adjust accordingly. Your budget is ok. Your cost per click, leads me to believe that your terms are not diverse enough (too Broad). You are using the terms everyone is using, that is where the competition is the fiercest Last edited by rbsremodeling; 05-09-2009 at 10:16 AM. |

It's also not just about how much you pay. It also factors in relevance, if you tweak your ads and landing page you can get away with lower costs, especially on terms combined with local terms.
You should create different campaigns for different subjects. For example, kitchen related terms should show an ad with the term kitchen in the title.

Re: Google Ad Words & CTR
I'm just using terms like- ###town painter, painter ###town or professional painter ###town.
I didn't want to go much more broad as I didn't want people from outside areas clicking. I know google shows ads by area, would they filter enough out of area clickers out if I left the town names out? Any other suggestions about what keywords would be cheaper yet more effective? Most of my impressions are on the same 6-7 keywords that I got clicks from.

Re: Google Ad Words & CTR
Yes the filters work very well.
But i would leave the search terms like they are for a week and see how it works them add a few broad terms with the more defined terms and see which works best. The wording of your add like upscale mentioned makes a difference in relavance to the search. after I got the hang of it I had more Ads than keywords. 10-12 keywords and 15 different ads |

Re: Google Ad Words & CTR
Also if you live in a city type environment. Limiting to that city may not work.
Example I am in DC but no one who lives in DC works in DC. So I have to target certain cities in MD and VA to cover my bases for potential clients |

Re: Google Ad Words & CTR
If you do enough research and looking around you will find companies that will take over your adwords account. They will only charge what they save you, which means it has to perform well for everything. Make sure you get references from current customers of theirs. Not to mention the time they save you to do the things in your business that you are an expert at.
Anyone like the new adwords client? It bogs down like crazy no matter what connection or computer I use. I like how it is laid out, but they need to fix its speed. JJ |
