Good Referrals

I am getting some feed back from potential clients that some on my referral list are really, really happy with our work and are speaking very highly of our company. I feel that a token of our appreciation is in order , but am not sure what is appropriate. I was thinking cash, gift card to restaraunt,or some other type of gift.So I wonder, what do you other contractors do for past clients who help you out with a good word?I don't want to go overboard with this so as it can become a regular thing.thanks for any ideas.

IMHO:
A simple thank-you card will suffice.

Anything more than that coul be viewed as a conflict of interest. Example: Referred party somehow hears that the party that referred you, received a gift (peope do talk)...and they feel that the good reviews could have been......

As stated, people are funny, and they do talk. That is why I say to simply send a nice thank-you card, unless you have a stated and known policy of a referral gift.

Re: Good Referrals

One customer had me do about 2500 worth of work over 2 years and then gave me over a 250k referral. I am building her a brick mailbox for free.

Another customer who has spent 70k with me so far gave me a 225k referal. They got there front landscape mulched for free last week when I was there doing additional work.

It cost me a he11 of alot less to do something small for someone then it does to get a big job from advertising!

I do the same. I've got quite a few customers that rave about me when called for a reference. I do them favors or take it easy on prices for additional work when needed.

Most importantly, I keep in contact with them on occasion. Ask how things are holding up, say hello and say thanks.

Re: Good Referrals

I agree with the thank you card. We keep a supply on hand so that there is never a reason to delay sending them out. The other suggestions are good also, but the simple thank you card is cheap and effective.

Good Luck

Re: Good Referrals

We give our clients a 7 day vacation on referrels. We use a travel incentive company and sofar everyone has been very happy. We also use them as a closing tool also when we are within 500-1000 of someone else to close the deal.

We also send Tervis Tumblers with our name on them also. We send thank you notes when the job is sold from the president of our company with his direct line in case they need to talk with him.

Re: Good Referrals

Can you provide some details on your 7 day vacation package? What is it? How much does it cost? What is included? What steps do you have to go thru to get this type of reward set up?

thanks,
dale

Re: Good Referrals

we do a number of things.

we send our past customers gift cards/ restaurant cards...nothing huge, maybe $25 bucks.

with gas prices the way they are,....gas cards work great as well...maybe try a letter to past clients, and offering them an incentive for supplying us with referrals.

keep it creative.

Hi Dale the best thing to do is PM me and I will give you the information I do not want to get slammed for advertising. Ed the roofer also checked out the incentive company. Maybe he can help also. Thanks
