Toss the internet lead services into the garbage, cause that's all they give you for your hard earned money.
Go to your suppliers, and get as many free brochures and samples of the product you deal with. Create a portfolio of whatever jobs you have done to date, and maybe touch base with your customers and see if they'd mind writing you a letter of reccomendation, or about their experience with YOU.
Find out what home shows are coming up in your area, and see if you can scrape some $ together to get a small 8x10 booth. If possible, shoot for a show that has a "paid admission" as opposed to being a nothing more than a free event where people just come in for the freebies and candy. Get some Avery sticker labels, toss 'em into your printer and put the name of your company, or your name and number on 'em, and put them on all the brochures you got from your suppliers.
Create some sort of "call-to-action" coupon, or some sort of rebate check that you can hand people as they pass your booth at the home show, and immediately engage them in conversation. Maybe bring up the fact that with the Stimulus Package passing, there's now a $1500.00 Federal Energy Tax Credit available for homeowners to take advantage of on a wide array of products. You can quite simply, be rather frank and ask them "what brought you folks to the home show today?"--More than likely, they will tell you, and you have a chance to explain how YOU couls possibly help them.
To be honest, I'm thinking you don't "yet" have nearly the overhead alot of the other companies out there have, so letting that be known to the customer as well, you could be extremely "cost-competitive."
Just my 2 cents, bud-but for what I'm sure you've spent or COULD EASILY spend on internet lead services, ads, etc.-this could prove to be a worthwhile investment and actually get your name out there...A little name branding can always help.
