Generating Work/leads

This has probably been posted numerous times. I am a low voltage company specializing in home theaters/rooms too.

Can anyone make some good suggestions on marketing?

Re: Generating Work/leads

hmm ... home theatres

try talking to some local video/rental stores that would allow their employees to distribute flyers in bags of customers.

know what i mean? like you're at the store renting a movie, filling out your credit card slip ... and the high school kid behind the counter throws all the DVDs in a bag ?? well, they could slip a flier in there too

Consider joining your local homebuilders' association. In our community, the association has a motto: "Be a member, do business with a member" and it looks like they practice what they preach.
This gives you access to two markets (here, but I think most HBAs operate on similar principals): One, you can then legitimately make some calls on the builders/developers and (b) there may be a renovators council and this will connect you with reno contractors as a sub/supplier.

Re: Generating Work/leads

I have been a Contrator for many years.

Word of mouth relied upon only can kill a small biz. Advertising is not so much to get work, it is to get the right work. I have heard so many tell me ya I am always busy. But when I ask are you busy doing the right jobs, the ones that pay the most they get a puzzled look. Let's face it, how many Contractors have a marketing degree?

How about 20 years of struggling before it's finally figured out? That would be me.
