Re: Free Google Web Tools/ Anylytics

Now the big question.....How many calls?

Or have the calls increased in kind with the increased traffic?

Re: Free Google Web Tools/ Anylytics

No calls, but I do have someone helping me to change that, soon I hope.
I had no web experience, so I am learning as I go. But the good news is I'm starting to understand how this works.

Re: Free Google Web Tools/ Anylytics

Now check your bounce rates. If they're over 40s%, that page needs be more "sticky" for user.
How many visitiors exit after viewing only one page?
What percentage are visits from contractortalk.com? These are not your target market.
How many visitors are in your target market "Region"? And what keywords and source did these users find you from?
How many visits are returning? From these returning visitors, are they in your area?

Oh, and there's the million dollar question: What are your sites' "goals" for coversions? (i.e. goal#1=get to contact.html AND goal#2=get to page that thanks for sending a message)

If your sites' goals are to rank high for search terms, you may have better luck filling an application with a web development team. To help with your marketing plan for the new year you can define your goals for your website here, and meanwhile, call ALL your past customers and wish them a happy new year and you value their business and if there is any way you can help them or their loved ones/neighbors/friends here's your number and website in case your business card magnet loss it's stickiness.

Oh, it's a little late you say to wish a happy new year?
"Well, ma'am/sir, we make it a point to call at least 10 of our past customers every lunch break. Sorry for the call being be-lated, but we have a lot of people to thank. We appreciate your business."

Re: Free Google Web Tools/ Anylytics

Are you saying a page that comes up and says thank you after they submit the inquiry form?

Re: Free Google Web Tools/ Anylytics

Absolutely! This is another of the things I see on contractor sites all the time. You need a "thank you page". This page should come up only when someone successfully completes a contact form. It should not be accessible from your main menu. There are at least two reasons you need this page . . .

First, you want your customer to know that the information he just sent actually went somewhere and someone will be doing something as a result--whether that's a phone call or an email or a visit to the home, whatever. Your customer needs to know that you'll follow up.

Second, the viewing of the thank you page indicates that a lead has been generated. When you place your analytics code and your conversion code (from Google) on this page, it will register in your analytics and in your Adwords dashboard (if you're using Adwords) as a conversion. This is where the rubber meets the road. You can't manage what you can't measure. Having this capability on your site means you can determine where people come from who fill out your contact form--what keywords they used to get to your site, what paths they navigated to get to your contact form, you can even tell where you're losing people from your site and then try to fix those "leaks".

Also, Google "Google blog directory" and you can find the blogs that might be of interest to you depending on the stage of development and advertising you are in.
