Re: Fool Proof Way To Land More Jobs Around Your Current Job.

This post is about the 2 step direct mail technique. Please read the original post and if you have a question or constructive comment regarding the direct mail program I will answer it.

I wont be replying to the trolls and people trying to continue the argument any longer. The thread is getting way too off topic and its not fair for it to get shut down because people want to argue and people who it helps wont get it chime in on it.

If there's something you want from me that has nothing to do with the direct mail campaign I posted about you can PM me. If not keep it related to the thread.

I've had about 10 people PM me agreeing with all my advice and expressing there opinions about you who are arguing. I want to keep the thread open for those people.

again Ill answer real questions that are related but all trolling will be ignored. make up or think whatever you want. the facts are we ARE on a sales and marketing forum and I'm posting sales and marketing stuff.

if you know of a forum called The Win An Argument Forum then ill go talk to you there but here ill be keeping it to sales and marketing.

doesn't matter how good YOU say you are all that matter is what the homeowner thinks in the moment and it the moment my offer looks irresistible.

Dude, me and Mike have gone round and round many times, but him ever being scared of losing a job to a paper pushing salesman is absurd

People who hire custom contractors don't hire or probably even talk to people like you. If you came to Horseshoe Bay Texas, you would be picking up trash on one of my job sites before you would ever take a job for me, and I have only been alive as long as Mike has been in business! I would give you to my assistant superintendent as a gopher

Things must be very slow where you are. If someone here wants any serious work done in 6 months they better have started talking to people. Around here every respectable contractor is booking work well into or past next spring, summer or fall. I talk to people every week and tell them I can't start tell summer and many of them say "I keep hearing that".

I don't compete with really anyone, let alone you. I'm almost always the highest bidder.

You got a flyer with your neighbor on it saying they just bought a car from this company and the experience was awesome, the sales guy was super nice and not pushy at all, I usually hate going to car lots because I don't want to deal with the sales people and the back and forth but this place was just awesome, I'm super happy and if anyone's going to buy a car go here. AND THEN

on that same flyer there's an irresistible offer for a Toyota Tacoma they have for sale right now, the same model you want, the same color you want, every single feature you want and its well within your budget..

your telling me you wouldn't respond to that ad? if you say no your completely full of it.

Of course stuff goes in the trash and doesn't get looked at. the goal isn't to convince people that don't want it to do it, the goal is to find the couple people who want exactly what your offering.

I'm looking to buy a new home right now. Were looking for a one story about 2500sqft or so but with a couple acres of property in a specific area.

if someone sent me a flyer for an apartment for rent down the street of course I would just throw it away instantly but if someone sent my a flyer for a one story house about 2500sqft with property in the area I wanted. I'm definitely going to reply to that.

Do you see how completely wrong and how little you actually know?

Again if your not looking to grow this thread isn't for you.

My point is I would not give him a deposit on just talking, But there are people that would.

Fact the minute he starts that sales pitch I would probably walk,

Can you tell me what percent of your customers are repeat customers?

And what you fail to realize is homeowners actually WANT to hear the pitch. They want to know about the company there about to spend 25k with and give a check of $1000 to, and the company that's going to be tearing apart there home. People want to know who you are, what your all about, if they can trust you, if you going to actually complete there job of take off half way through and move to Tijuana, and see what what kind of materials there going to get.

I've never had a customer buy from me without me telling them about the company, the products, showing them all the options, showing them the install process, ect.

No one "walks"

Once again you aren't listening. He said he wouldn't give you a check on talking alone. That would indicate he understands that you would be talking to them and giving them information, but what he wouldn't do is give someone money after one visit and just a chat. He needs more.

I just want a little. I just want you to show us some pics. Yes, you can pull them off the net, but I can do a reverse search on them to verify you didn't do that. So it's pretty ease to vet pictures. I do it all of the time on my own pictures I post.

What other excuse do you have for not posting some proof that you are who you say you are (which I know your name isn't dean craig as you show up in only two places under that name) and who you work for?

Everyone who calls me has been highly recommended by previous customers, subs, suppliers or from others who know about my work from those avenues. Once I meet a customer all I do is have the best possible answers to their questions. It's almost always about the work and very rarely about my business.

In fact people who are asking about my business are usually not as good of potential customers.

Let other people sell you. You will have as much work as you want.

If their heart says I need this so bad I have to take a cash advance on my credit card to get it that is their choice I don't force them to live in debt.

But that isn't what I wad talking about. He specifically said he offers financing. Under those conditions the he is raping his client. It's one thing for them to come to you with money from whatever source. Its quite another to offer them a chitty loan to give them something he had convinced them they need.

There's a bunch of different loan options they can pick whatever's comfortable for them. Whenever we're looking at financing options I always ask what's something that's going to be comfortable and that your not going to be stressed out about either now or in the future.

If a customer needs financing they probably can't afford me. In all my years in business I've never even been paid by a credit card.
