Firm To Design Ad?
I am planning to run 1 magazine ad starting the first of the year. I am wondering if anyone has used any companies for designing ads plus writing copies.
Any help would be appreciated. I have a basic idea of what am looking to do, i just think i need professional guidence to achive what i am looking to. Matt Last edited by ruskent; 08-26-2007 at 10:49 AM. |

Re: Firm To Design Ad?
Matt,
Yes, you should seek out an ad firm. The one thing I that I hear from my customers is that my ad stands out more and looks more professional then my competitors. You can always tell who designs their own and who has someone do it for them. It is not very expensive and I highly recommend it. Even better if you know what you want, they will charge you less and the turnover time will be quick. Edit: BTW I think for us young guys we have to win them over with professionalism.

Re: Firm To Design Ad?
If this is a decent magazine, they almost always offer a design service included with the fee of your ad or for an additional price.
If you know what you want, then all you need is someone to do the technical part for you which they would be perfect for. If you have no idea then you need a marketing company not a graphic designer. |

Re: Firm To Design Ad?
One thing that you have to remember is that when you use an ad firm the magazine will charge you 15% more than what they would normally charge you if you submitted it yourself. Make sure that you get all of the artwork and ad materials from the ad firm so that you can submit the artwork yourself. I do all of the graphic design work for our ads, so I submit them directly but they always ask me if I am with an agency. Once they find out that I create my own material they give me the discounted price. Also try to negotiate your price. If this is a one time shot and it is your first time in the magazine, they normally will give you a great deal to get you into the magazine. Don't commit to a long run unless you are totally set on using the magazine. Advertisers nearly always tell you that you can't tell about an ad until it runs for 3 to 6 months. That is true in the long run, but if you have a great ad in a good magazine, you should see some response with in the first month. It has always worked for me. Good luck to you and I would be happy to give you any pointers that I can.

We used this freelance designer out of St. Louis for our last mailer. She did a great job for us at reasonable prices. Her website is...

Keith would be very good for average budget projects. If you are looking for higher end with copy writing capability you may be spending some bigger bucks. I think that is out of the KBK realm.
