Finding Framing Opportunities

Hi ,what does everyone think some of the best way to dig up new construction framing jobs? I have built 2 this year but I would like to get away from the masonry side of my buiseness for a while and do some more framing.Arround here it seems that is the coveted market.I have gone from sub division to sub division asking for sub work as a framer and started advertising with some lumber distributers .I am now thinking about dropping off some portfolio cds at some of the local real estate agents offices.Has anyone had any success with this sort of advertising or do you think agents are a lost cause?

Not sure what part of the country you're in (you can go into your User CP and add that info) but in many parts of the country, new residential construction has slowed down considerably. What that means is GCs aren't hiring framers because there is too much inventory and they're not building new now...when they do, they'll probably use their current framing subs instead of seeking new ones.

What's the commercial situation around you like? Can you get work on commercial jobs while the residential market is in the toilet?

Good luck,

Mac

Re: Finding Framing Opportunities

In my area it seems anyone with a hammer and circular saw list themselves as a GC/Carpenter. I know of guys who have worked for 20+ years and I have 3 times the tools they have. A portfolio of what you've done probably would be a good idea, in fact I might do the same. Also trying starting small, finishing off basement and smaller framing jobs. But ultimately like Mac said the market where you are might be slow right now.
