Feedback On A Proposed Company Slogan

My father who is a 55 year young patriotic american, has been busting me to use this slogan. I'm concerned that it may be offensive, and not be realy effective in general anyway but I could be wrong.

His proposed slogan is:

SAY AMERICAN.... HIRE FINISHLINE CONSTRUCTION

Good, or bad idea?

Re: Feedback On A Proposed Company Slogan

Gotta be honest - what does being American have to do with what you do?

I certainly understand the patriotism and pride concept... but this is business. Use what is effective. Would your dad hire the worst remodeling, rip-off company out there because they say "American made" on their logo?

I don't care for that. Maybe try playing with words that will tie into your name. Example:

"Your Remodeling Partner from Start to Finish"

Re: Feedback On A Proposed Company Slogan

Thanks for the feedback so far guys . My fathers reasoning for this, is because he believes, people like him are sick of companies that hire illegal workers, which in most cases leads to a "hack job". There are certainly many companies around here that fit that profile.

Pressure pro's, I personally have been moving in the direction like you have suggested. I'm just getting the others feedback in here, on my fathers idea before I totally scrap it.

Lawndart-
I'm the same age as your Dad, sometimes after wading through all the _______ we just get fed up with things we don't like and want to bite back. Obviously, he has a pet peeve about the illegals. I think you are right about the potential to offend plus it may mean a lot to your Dad, but I doubt your prospect is as focused on that aspect of selecting a contractor.

Pressure Pros suggestion is much better...
"Your Remodeling Partner from Start to Finish"

Maybe even extend that thought to include your name...
"Your Remodeling Partner from Start to Finish-Line"

Thirty plus years in the business can be a benefit, but it can also create a longing for the way things used to be, and frustration with things we can't change, or don't have the energy to change. Best of luck on the slogan!

Your asking a Global audience if you should use your pride for country in a company slogan. Open you tool box and see where the tools are made and were your parts for the truck come form and is the puter screen you are looking at right now form your country.
You are a very local company, put a flag up to thank those that are defending your freedom, use your locality to get the true customers.
A good marketing campaign would direct the customer to the product from the area you are targeting..

Although I totally agree with the sentiment (sick of cheap labor like illegal aliens leading to hack jobs), I'm not sure a company slogan like "SAY AMERICAN.... HIRE FINISHLINE CONSTRUCTION" the best way to present what you are trying to portray

It comes off more as a as a cheesy patriotic tie-in, as it doesn't really make the statement by itself
...I didn't get what you meant by it until you explained it
That's not a good sign

You're correct slickshift, which is why I'm most likely going to scrap the idea. I've been leaning towards something like Pressure Pro's suggested. Any other suggestions?

Putting your remodel in the winners circle, Finish Line Construction
Quality driven, Finish line construction
Avoid the caution flag from lesser qualified, Finish line construction

Re: Feedback On A Proposed Company Slogan

I'm a big fan of saying saying exactly what you do in a tagline. For example... my company's is "Performance-Based Internet Marketing Services"..

A good one I saw recently was for an HVAC company I contacted. Their Company was One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning. Tagline was "We're there in 1 hour or it's free".

Hope this helps the brainstorming

Dale Carnegie had a famous saying, "Begin with the end in mind."
Maybe you could borrow from him somehow; begin with FinishLine in mind. I can't decide about the patriotic theme. Pluses and minuses.

Re: Feedback On A Proposed Company Slogan

i understand the frustration with the illegals

but

yeah, it does have that cheesy "Pink Houses" patriotism to it

also - as much as I hate PC ... it could offend someone (not good for business)

Re: Feedback On A Proposed Company Slogan

Right or wrong, anytime I see a tag line like that I assume its a pure marketing ploy and it turns me off. The prime example in my area is "Christian Tree Service". I still don't know what the benifits of hiring a Christian to trim my trees are! And in fact I would never hire them because again it feels to me like they are trying to get me to hire them because thier Christian not because they are a good tree service.

I really like the "from start to Finish-Line" slogan. that seems like a real winner to me. Once you here it you remember it, and since it has your company name in it, its works very well for branding.
