Feedback On New Site Design - Maybe A Prize Or Two.

Guys, thank you for your feedback. I have ditched the flash, taken out music, and changed the layout to be more modern. Hard to read ? maybe but most of the competitive sites use same size letters. My concern is presentation and appearance (neat). How easy to navigate ? The linked pages will have large fonts.

I have also restarted the poll to reset the votes.

Please let me know what you think on this one

OLD POST:

Guys the marketing gods tell me that 8 months went by and it is time to re-design the website. Also the old site has lots of band-aids that it is almost as hard to add pages as to design a new one. I used the feedback from this forum to select the layout of old site. So here it is again.

The old look: www.homemediapros.com

The new look: www.homemediaprofessionals.com (this is my test site)

Links dont work on purpose. I only did one page because it is how the rest of the site will look like. Let me know which site do you like most. Maybe i should fix the old one, or maybe venture and complete the new one.

Again thank you for all of your comments and support.

To make it more exciting the people with the most comments we adopt will get a small prize from us.

Home Media Pros.

Re: Feedback On New Site Design - Maybe A Prize Or Two.

I am experimenting with Call to Action Text. The web page gives you a taste of the type of message the whole site will carry. Call to action, lots of YOU YOU YOU kind of stuff.

What do you think about this approach, did the first page left you wanting to read more pages ?

Again thanks in advance, it is very important for us to make sure we have the best and the coolest presence as we are investing in radio and tv that will drive people to new site.

Thank you

Re: Feedback On New Site Design - Maybe A Prize Or Two.

I like the old one better. It looks more professional to me. The copy is easier to read. But there is alot of copy in both. It took a while for the new one to load. I actually did not wait for it all to load. The font is hard to read and small. I would go with a font that is san-serif. That text is to dark for that background. Customers want to get in look and you only have a few seconds to grab their attention. We put ours up about 4-5 weeks ago. Have had great response. Alot of people like it because it is simple, easy to navigate and easy to read. Sorry to critique so hard....I work as a designer at an agency and it is my habit to critique...

Good Luck!

I like the old one better. A lot of text to read which makes it a little overwhelming...

Add another vote for the old. I would nix the red on blue lettering, unless you plan on providing free 3d glasses to read it. White is usually the way to go for a background. Keep on tinkerin!

It seems like Im in the minority but I like the new one better. The old one looks professional but the new one is something different from everybody else.

I get the prize.

Technically, it's great, but....
There isn't a call-to-action.
I wouldn't list the prices---at least on the first page---just sell the packages.
Get a English major to write your stuff.

Where's my prizess?

I think the prize is a call to action.

Re: Feedback On New Site Design - Maybe A Prize Or Two.

I could go on and on about ways to improve it but not for free.

So here’s some feedback for free:
  • I like the layout of the new site better.

I would get rid of the flash header and replace it with a static header that immediately communicates what you do (in words they can understand not industry jargon) and a benefit to the prospect.

I would try to eliminate the word “we” and reword the sentence with the word “you” because people are incredibly self centered and they only care about themselves, they don’t care about you. They only want to know what you can do for them.

The copy is poorly written on both sites. It doesn’t communicate benefits to the prospect. You have to put yourself in the prospects shoes and try to understand what they are thinking & feeling when they search the internet.

I don’t know why you are quoting prices unless you plan to make this an E-commerce site. Do you believe that quoting those prices is going to lead to a sale? Do you make sales face to face after you have evaluated what they want? If so you should never quote a price until the end of the consultation.

You should have a page with the title “Home”.
Overall I don’t think these websites are going to help you achieve your goals.

If you are paying someone to write and design this site for you I recommend that you replace them ASAP.

Re: Feedback On New Site Design - Maybe A Prize Or Two.

MEL... PM me your business adress we will send you a token of apreciation. In case you are wondering it would be something from our stock... Call it element of surprise.

FYI.. i did both sites myself on my spare time. Copy wise this "as funny as it sounds" came from english majors...

I ws tryint to change the site so I can add more content with ease. I guess it is time to get a pro.

Speaking of the Pros they all seem to turn out the same cheap looking crap if it is under $5K anything elese is way over 10-15K... and most of them do it in flash....

based on response flash is out of the window at this point

ditch the exploding phrases in the top header as the page loads (too much) just have the text come up & fade

The rotating buttons are annoying

Otherwise - it's informative and well laid out (way better than mine!)
