Facebook Pages?

I just made a page in Facebook for our business.
Has anyone else in here made one? Has it brought you in any new business?

Re: Facebook Pages?

I'm also hittin craigslist daily and zillow daily. Have an angieslist ad running. for the last couple weeks. Did newspaper last year. And Service Magic.

Ratios
money in vs money out

Newspaper 1 to 4
Angieslist 199.00 to 0
Craigslist 0 to 0 (last year I think I got $4k worth of work off of it)
Service Magic 500 to 0

I don't think many people are on zillow right now. Nobody wants to look at how much money they are losing. But once that turns around you'll be at the head of line when everybody comes back.

Re: Facebook Pages?

I don't know about Facebook.
The last thing I want is someone I didn't like fifteen years ago contacting me today.
I am still on the fence though.

What is it your doing with zillow? I was thinking of making a page on facebook or Myspace but I don't know if anyone who could use a contractor is on there.

Re: Facebook Pages?

I think the purpose is more for networking then advertisement. Many times a friend of a friend will notice your line of work and become a customer... At least that is my experience.

Re: Facebook Pages?

Do people really go to Facebook to find a contractor?

Maybe I'm just out of touch with the times...getting old.

Re: Facebook Pages?

No, I don't think anyone goes there with intention to look for a Contractor. When I started my page I was thinking much the same way as HomeSealed touched on.

A lot of the people on my friends list are into Earthmoving, Excavating and Construction as well. So are their friends and friends of friends. As Facebook grows in popularity more and more of our customers will be in there as well (many probably already are). Makes it real easy for them to tell their friends about us. They can also comment on the page and write reviews about our business.

So my hope with it is that some of them will like the Spyder Hoe pics or want to follow the progress of our business and become a fan of the page. When they become a fan of the page then a link shows to it in their profile and exposes me to all their friends.

Also people searching for others with common interests and groups to join will find the page adding even more exposure.

I just started mine yesterday so we will see how it goes....

Re: Facebook Pages?

I think HomeSealed hit the nail on the head with that one. Social networking pages are for social networking, but hey! If a friend who lives in the area who you've just gotten in touch with after 15 years sees that you are a contractor and needs some work done you already have common ground and a relationship.

Re: Facebook Pages?

Yes I use it. but it's not direct marketing.
It's like BrianHay put it. It's for networking, getting your name out there, so when the subject comes up, your name is passed along.
When this kicks in, you will have a high close ratio from these leads because its value is just like a referral from a previous customer.

Hubspot has some great info on inbound marketing.
Combine SEO, Blogging and Social Media to Optimize Your Marketing Efforts

Just remember, Never put anything TOO personal or controversial on a site that can in anyway be linked to your business. This can be indexed and found by search (your business name for example). Just keep that in mind when posting anything publicly.

We've had a Facebook Page for a while, it's a good way to network amungst your friends and family; but it's also a great opportunity for paid advertising.

Advantages...

2) Pay per click
3) Daily spend limit
4) FREE WEBPAGE
5) Easy to use and update
6) Directly bills to your credit card
7) Can have scheduled start and end dates.
8) Ads can be paused and/or deleted at any time.

When you surf around facebook, there is always advertising listed on the right-hand... you can post your own thumbnail advertisement in that area by opening a facebook page and be seen by potential clients!

http://www.facebook.com/help.php?topic=pages

Everytime someone clicks on your thumbnail ad they get brought to your facebook page. It costs minimum 19 cents per click and you can put a cap on the daily amount you're willing to spend on that advertising.

Great way to keep track of markets... we have two thumbnail ads that display on facebook to direct traffick to our facebook page. One advertisment will ONLY display to facebook users in my city and the other I have set up to display ONLY to facebook users in my Region. Your account information will allow you to track everything...

1) The comparison of female/male page viewers
2) How many times your ad was clicked
3) How many times your pictures were viewed
4) How many times your ad was displayed on facebook
