Re: Facebook Marketing

So I check facebook and BAM its a new look. It makes it easier for me to get to my page but I don't think anyone of my fans can see what I post. I logged off and then back in as my wife and could not even find a way to my page let alone see the posts in the news feed or photo's

Anyone else seeing this?
Am I just not looking in the right place?

Re: Facebook Marketing

Here's a place to start, try going to your Fan page then under your Profile pic, click on "Edit Page" then click on "Edit" on the settings tab, and see if your set to "Published (publicly visible)".

Re: Facebook Marketing

okay I think I got it, as far as the new look of FB goes.
I posted this this morning and my fan count is climbing by the minute.

I would like to thank everyone who has helped me by becoming a fan. Word of mouth is by far the most effective form of advertising. If you suggest your friends to become a fan it will help in ways you could never imagine. I do not expect everyone to know someone who needs work done this very minute, but in time every home needs maintenance, updating or even a complete overhaul.

Is there a way to create a " Fan Page List" ?

We can all simply scroll and click...

Re: Facebook Marketing

Ok, I am going to fan everybody on this forum. But I have to say, after a year of facebook and 2000 customers, I think we only have ten fans on facebook. I did put it right on our main page. The thing I wonder, is that I am a fan in facebook of ten or fifteen things, like 'Women bringing you Sandwiches' and 'nuns who dress laptop computers in dollclothes and smoke pipes' but I don't visit them much.

Does anybody visit fan pages? Maybe it is just me.

Re: Facebook Marketing

When you post something it shows up in their "news feed" and may provoke them to visit your page.

My parents used to have a house in Lake Hopatcong, and I lived in Morristown for 3 years. Small world, and good luck with your business.

I started by getting close network folks to recommend the page(my own network + my office manager). We got to just about 100 that way.

I invested in a PPC campaign with FB for about 4-5 weeks. The ad promoted a before & after project progression video of a modern kitchen renovation we had recently finished. I had a locally targeted version and a national version.

The local version didn't do jack squat. The national version got us to about 270 before I paused it about 3 weeks ago. Since then, I've been generating new fans steadily with no other input but content updates.

Content is king. Google is now indexing social network content (Social Search: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/...-search-i.html ) and real time content: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/...-time-web.html .

With social networking, it can't ALL be about you or it's going to seem SPAMY. Certainly include project updates, photos, etc.--but also include non-YOU related content your fan base will have an interest in.

I highly recommend short video montages of your portfolio photos. YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine now--and all of these things layered together (Facebook, YouTube, Forum Posts, Blogs, etc. etc.) overlap and build on one another to improve your organic search engine placement.

My own site has seen an 80% increase in traffic over the last month. It's hard to say what are all the factors behind that--but I strongly believe all of these things have helped.
Chris I'm curious - Why run a national PPC?

Re: Facebook Marketing

I agree with Da V. That is a really an interesting question.
If you are not a national company, why would you advertise Nationally ?

I am also really shocked that you got MORE fans from a National Campaign as opposed from a local.

Our local ads average about 1 fan per 10 clicks.

Inquiring minds want to know

Magic,
How did you set up your tabs? Specifically the landing page and youtube link page. I searched thru the apps and did not see them as options.

Re: Facebook Marketing

I haven't really done much with Facebook so my comments are coming from that perspective.
It seems to me that FB is a less than ideal venue for contractors. It has more of a party atmosphere. I wonder if folks are in the state of mind to be considered good prospects.
Have you ever been at a party and get approached by somebody trying to sell you something?
What happens when a potential customer checks you out? Are they going to have a positive impression from your skill in playing a Pirate or the Mafia Game? How are they going to respond to seeing your vacation pics from Spain? Are they going to believe you charge too much?
What do you do when your buddy from High School posts pics of you throwing up at the High School prom?
