Sorry about the hit and run!
Can you elaborate just a wee bit?

We actually got 2 calls from our Facebook page last month.
I would say Facebook is a good marketing tool, but dont base your marketing model on it.

Re: Facebook Marketing

I set up a business group on my Facebook account just recently. You can't set up two personal pages with Facebook rules but you can set up a fan page or a group page along with your personal page. Some of the stuff I read on the internet said that a group was the better way to go, but time will tell. You can set it up so that friends of friends can see it and also the people on your friends list can invite others to become members. I also read that you need to post something every day or two to keep it current in everyone's pages. I have a link to my webpage listed also. I'm not sure that people who read it will become customers, rather I'm hoping that by keeping my name out there they will mention it when they talk to someone needing work done who may or may not be on Facebook.

Re: Facebook Marketing

I just started focusing my facebook on business rather than friends. I have fan pages for my business rather than organizational pages. I am not sure if that is the best route to go. So far I've just really built up a network (friends) with suppliers and businesses like mine around the country. Its good to hear that MagicPoolSvs recieved 2 actual calls for business!

Sorry about the delay! Here is some more information on the testimonial application for your Facebook page...

http://www.facebook.com/applications...als/2588290420

This a great way to publish your testimonials via your social media page and allow your fans to view them.

Let me know if you have any more questions...I would be more than happy to help.

Alyssa: could you look at post 17 of this thread and tell me if there is any validity to the concern? Thanks.

Re: Facebook Marketing

I created a business page last night, but it seems that i created the wrong type. I see most you guys pages are fan pages. How Do you create a fan page? Btw, according to FB TOS , you are only allowed to have 1 facebook account regardless if its business or personal!

Of course!

Well, the answer to your question is yes you can control your friend and privacy settings. Here is a post regarding filtering your content. Facebook allows you to see control who is able to view certain things (i.e. pictures, wall posts, etc.).

http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=11519877130

HOWEVER, personally, the easiest, and most effective way, to stay out of this individual's radar is to block them.

http://www.facebook.com/help.php?page=841

This shows you how to do it. When you block someone, you cannot view them, and they cannot view you. You pretty much become invisible to each other. I would personally go this route because it is the easiest and best way to avoid any conflict and the person will not even know you did it, they might just assume you erased your Facebook account.

Let me know if you need more assistance or if I wasn't clear enough

How this works is you create a PERSONAL page first. That is your account. After that, you can create a FAN page. It's not a separate account, it's just a fan page tied to your personal account.

The FAN page doesn't point back to your personal page. The only correlation is that your PERSONAL page will show as a fan. You do not need to have any of your fans be apart of your personal page. But you should have your friends be fans.

Friends = personal
Fans = business

make sense?

So, do you create this personal page with your business name on it, or just put your name on it, then put your business name on the fan page?

I'm new to this facebook stuff, never messed with it at all. Many of my friends have myspace pages, but I've not fooled with that either.

Personal is just that. Keep it that way. The personal page is actually your account.

Business is not an accountant, more like an add-on. Keep each one separate.

Another way to look at it:

Personal = account
Business = fan page add-on

Re: Facebook Marketing

Does a Business (Fan page add-on) become a fan of another Business or does the personal page become a fan of the business?

Not completely lost but getting there!

Re: Facebook Marketing

That's a good question. I sent out a "become a fan of Italian Plasterworks" and "California School of Italian Plasters" to my friends. But some of my "friends" are businesses. If I get a post from something I am a fan of, it goes to my personal wall not my add on business page. I don't think my add on page can become a fan of something.
