Energy Tax Credits?

Can home owners get a tax credit for home improvements that help save energy?

Does fiberglass insulation qualify for a tax credit?

Absolutely. Here are a few websites that may be helpful:

http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?...pr_tax_credits

http://www.dsireusa.org/

Also check with your local utility companies. For example, Denver water gives a small rebate for installing low flow toilets.

Re: Energy Tax Credits?

This is something that you can use to seperate your company from your competitors. I would contact the energy companies that service your area and ask them for the energy auditors or energy raters that they use. These guys are the ones that actually do the inspecting and write the reports and know all the credits and other benefits that come with energy efficiency. These guys around here are mostly older contractors that decided to do this instead, so they are pretty good with all my questions.

It looks like they only allow 10% of the cost of materilas for insulation.

Couldn't I write up the proposal and make most of the price that I am charging for materials?

How would the government determine the cost of materials?
I would be buying the material from my supplier and selling it to the homeowner installed.

There usually is a cap off amount.
