E-mail Marketing

Thought I would post this question here. I was recently approached about doing e-mail marketing by a company that does these things. They say they can do targeted marketing, meaning people in my local area, but I wonder if anyone has tried this and if it's even partially effective enough to be a worthwhile form of advertising. What says you?

Re: E-mail Marketing

When I moved to this area I attempted to do a lil email marketing on my own. I searched for local Realtors on the net, jotted thier email addresses down and sent each an email, simply promoting my new business. I did get a couple of replies and if I remember correctly even a couple of small jobs. I think most considered it spam though.

Re: E-mail Marketing

Isn't "email marketing" just another term for SPAM?

That's not to say that SPAM doesn't work but only that it may put a bad taste for your company in some peoples mouths.

Just my thought...

Any more spam in MY box and I'm going postal!

I average about 140 a day that make it through the filters. If I don't recognize the sender, it's gone.

Waste of money, just think what you do with unsolicited email that you receive, right in the trash bin. I think you're better off with newspaper ads, local mailers, signs on your trucks and in front of your jobs.

Yes, I know...I don't like spam either. I just wondered if it was even a plausible marketing method for our industry. I'm not about to leave a bad taste in any of my current or potential customer's mouths.

It is SPAM, no doubt. But when I moved to this area (Small Town in SW North Carolina, I knew nobody at all, wasn't any food in the fridge, no luck finding someone else to work for (which I really didn't wanna do), etc. I was ready to try anything.... I would have eaten SPAM! @ that time. I'm sho' thankful things have changed since then.

If you are worried about that, you better make sure it is an opt in list.

I bet his next yacht will be named;
