Direct Mail: SalesGenie.com Or QuantumMail.com?
Hey guys (&gals):
My phone's not ringing enough. We're staying busy, but I need a better flow of prospects. We advertise in perhaps a dozen different places, but it's the time of year for slow responses. What's the feedback on these two companies? Both can custom create & send out letters/ postcards, etc. Anyone like or hate em? In advance, thanks for your thoughts. ~Matt |

I've heard good things about Quantum mail. I haven't used them so I can't give you my experience with them. I will say that using direct Solo mail is pretty tough on the wallet. A good response would be 1/10 of 1%. That's 1 response for every 1000 pieces you send out. In my experience, even mailing around jobs where people have seen your trucks and signs the response doesn't go up very much. Don't get me wrong..............I do think that you should mail around job sites but to do it and expect to make the phone ring will be disappointing. Hire a couple of college kids to canvass around jobs instead. We pay or guys $9.50 per hour plus $5.00 for every appointment they set. We are guaranteed at least 1 oppointment for every 4 hour shift. That's $43.00 per set appointment. Works well. |

Re: Direct Mail: SalesGenie.com Or QuantumMail.com?
Thanks for the thoughts Marc.
Right now we're mailing out a newsletter to all of our current clients, and the prospects I've met with this past year. It's not a huge mailing, about 210 newsletters, but I'm hoping for some response. If I don't hear anything, we'll keep looking at other options. The mailing I was considering would be directed towards recent home purchases. We seem to do most of our decks on houses that the owner purchased in the last 1-18 months. I know there's a lot of single houses to small developments that my door hangers haven't hit. I don't want to exclude anyone from the opportunity to have the nicest custom deck possible! Thanks again, ~Matt |

Re: Direct Mail: SalesGenie.com Or QuantumMail.com?
I've used quantum and unfortunately I can't say they have been trouble free. I've had a huge problem with the quality of the printing they do. They've been more than accomodating to try to correct things, even resending mailings for free numerous times, but after over 60 days of working with them with hit and miss customer support even with a dedicated account rep I would certainly entertain looking at another vendor if it they could do things better.
I suspect part of the problem is they are using a very antiquated sytem for dealing with your art files which causes a lot of color shifts and quality control problems. I've never seen any printing company use a Jpeg file as their required file type. Jpegs by thier nature lose image quality because they throw away data when you create them, every other printer I have know uses PDFs. Quantum has a great front end, the products they offer to help you do your direct mailing are great, the back end just doesn't seem to have it together. |

Re: Direct Mail: SalesGenie.com Or QuantumMail.com?
I use Quantum for radius mailings. The on-line process is very easy and actually fun AFTER THE FIRST TIME. I have bought mailing list from them with phone numbers for follow up. Their express mail option actually took about 2 weeks. So far I can not give them a thumbs up or down.
