When we had our business cards done, we got matching letterhead and envelopes printed that all correlated together.

Few suggestions. i would go a large postcard with attractive pictures on one side and an offer that will make someone pick up the phone and call you. People in high end homes don't have time to open up mail and read long letters. If you have done work with some nearby neighbor's see if they will give you a good quote that you could use under a title called "hear what your neighbors are saying". include wording like professional contractor. hope this helps.

and with postcards you know they're seen.
Most letters are usually referred to the "junk mail" filing bucket.

Do some research on running a successful ad campaign. You'll find that consistency is important. You should aim for a 2 year campaign. The theme for the two year period should be harmonious.

I like the idea of a fading campaign. Start with once a week for six months with postcards, be sure the message is simple, who you are and what you do.

Then go 6 months with a monthly mailing, something a little more formal, like an invitation card, hand written address and your last name and home address on the return address. They will open it for sure, have a card with your logo on the cover and inside an invitation, "we invite you to view our web site", "we invite you to the open house where we just added a media room", "we invite you to our show room" etc..

Then go quarterly for the last year and always include a fridge magnet with a benefit like a calender or a note pad.

If they have a homeowners association, find out how you can advertise with them.

Act Professional on your Estimate calls, write clear and decisive proposals, do quality work in a timely manner, have a very clear communication channel with your customer, and you should see some good return from your mailing campaign.

If you decide to do one or two mailers, to see how it will work, you might as well take the money and buy lottery tickets. Or, send it to me, I'll send you half back and you'll only lost have as much!

Good luck!

Mike

Re: Direct Mail Campaign-please Help With Letter Format

when we do post cards we usually do around 10-15,000 homes.
It costs about $0.38 per piece for printing and mailing.
Doing that once a week could get mighty hefty on the marketing expense column.
We usually do a three piece mailer. Once a month. And the series all having similar look. Usually promoting different things each month.

I actually find door hangers to be more productive than mailers though. fyi
