Design Presentation - Going to Virtual

not sure if this is the right area, but design/sales presentation seems like marketing to me....

i've been experimenting with the SWEET new software combos out there recently as pertains to landscape/architectural/remodeling design and presentation. there are packages out there that completely WOW the client because they can get inside the design - packages like Google sketchup (allows rotating, walkthrough, etc.), Podium, Photoshop, etc (link of example attached)

This off-season, i've tried to really focus on every single sales edge i can get given the state of economic affairs. we do alot of outdoor hardscape work - and some pretty off-the-wall stuff, so i am tweaking our design presentation more toward the virtual feel, to really get clients engaged in the design. so far, results have been very good from the standpoint of closed sales, but the actual footwork in doing one of these is kind of intense so far.

just to run it by everyone as a cool way to differentiate your biz. there are folks out there doing absolutely incredible stuff with these packages.
thx
jim

I use home designer 8, pretty cheap, easy to use and gives an excellent virtual rendering , what i like most about it is, i can draw up an addition or deck, and it will give me a precise material take off, right down to concrete for footings and walls, its an excellent persuasion tool for selling jobs ................

Just about every organisation has a template that you’re supposed to use when you create a PowerPoint presentation. The idea behind this is well-intentioned.

hi Eric - business is pretty slow right now. alot of people are scared of spending money and i expect this year to reflect that. i am holding out hope though - there are still people (mostly the wealthy ones) out there still spending money, but i think we'll see many of the mi-small range jobs disappear.

this is only temporary though....

how's business for you looking?

We are DEAD, I actually canceled my insurance the other day because our last job was almost 2 months ago. The people that have lots money will still have it and i think that is where a company like yours will strive is with weather clients. To where the middle class in now going broke. Do you guys do stamped concrete also? I am working with a buddy that does pest control right now.
