Creating Flyer's

After reading many posts about flyer's and their effectiveness we have decided to give it a try. For those of you that have made up your own flyer's, do you have any tips on what we should include in ours or how to put them together? Thanks again.

Re: Creating Flyer's

After having done 10's of thousands of flyers I have found a simple truth.

1. Show the need.
2. Provide the solution.
3. Call to action.
4. Flyer and re-flyer and re-flyer the areas over and over and over again.

Oh and never hire any one you don't ABSOLUTELY trust to pass them out, otherwise you will find all those flyers in the dumpster of the closes convienance store.

Also you can find programs with your local news paper for them to include them in thier weekly advertisment deliveries.

Post them on business's "with permission first" like a lot of grocery stores have a community bulletin board inside the main entrance walk way,
Local distributors like lumber stores etc.

Re: Creating Flyer's

When going door to door is there a certain method for placement of the flyer or do you just leave it where you can set it? I know that the mail box is out of the question. Do you all use a color print flyer or black ink on a colored paper? Thanks again in advance.

Re: Creating Flyer's

after a couple months of having them printed locally I finally went with overnightprints.com and had the large post card done. The pricing was great and the quality was superior and now I was able to upgrade my image. These were handed out right before the holidays which is not the best time, but I anticipate people holding on to them if they really plan to do something in the near future. If you have more questions please email me jim@improvedforyou.com (I can trust that this will be used for its only intended purpose) thanks.

I use a simple 8 1/2 x 11 one page flyer, bright yellow with black ink. I fold them into quarters with a business card slipped inside and tuck them into entry doors and paperboxes.

canvas neighborhoods that are close to home. it only takes one sale to get you started, after that it will be word of mouth so charge fair prices and do your best work on every job.
1 job leads to 2, 2 jobs lead to 4 and so on.

I do the advertising and marketing for our company and we do both inserts with the newspapers by zip code and we do jumbo 4 color postcards. If you are a small company I would start with inserts in newspapers. We pay about 5-7 cents each for print and delivery in the paper. The nice thing about this is direct response, your phone will ring now. Also give them a reason to call you, maybe a $ 25.00 savings coupon etc or maybe you have a new product announcement.SAVE MONEY NOW is something I use alot,It grabs there attention and if there not ready now they will hold on to it .You will need to advertise up to 6-7 times to keep your name out there for your customer to think of you.If you can afford to put it on remote control with your newspaper do so and this will help you save money also.We do it the first week of every month on a Tuesday or Thursday.Good luck

Re: Creating Flyer's

Try 3000doorhangers.com for good door hangers and flyers, they have combo specials too, quick turnaround.
You just tell them what you want written and they design them for you, they can even add graphics.

3000 for $180, includes card stock, printing, and shipping, good deal.

As far as putting them out, define your target market and "canvas" and find out where there's large sections of where you want to work. I like putting out on a friday so homeowners have for weekend, when they're off work and more likely to call.
Re-do same neighborhoods once more after few weeks, and again after a month. Burn your name and what BENEFITS you sell into their minds.

Whenever we do an estimate or start a job, I make it a point to get at least 300 door hangers around that area.

It's hit or miss with door hangers / flyers. Sometimes you'll get some calls other times not one. You just got to plug away, stomp the pavement, and agressively advertise.

Good luck!

Is that the price you pay directly to the newspaper, or do you go through a media advertising agency to get reduced rates off of their cut sheet pricing?

Re: Creating Flyer's

I did a doorhanger with a business card that the person could tear off (perforated), they worked great and were extremely inexpensive. Doorhangers are great because no questions on where to leave them, also the homeowner has to take them off, so you know they at least get looked at.

Re: Creating Flyer's

Originally I was just thinking about a sort of flyer that I would print at home but now I am leaning more towards door hangers or post cards. Maybe we'll order some tonight. Thanks everyone for the help and if you have any more tips please feel free to share.

Peace and love

Re: Creating Flyer's

one of the best ways to make flyers is to use language that creates curiosity, and then through a time sensitive offer, demands action.

such as
" did you ever think you had X problem?" " do you know how to solve X problem?" if you call within 48 hours after recieveing this offer, you too could know how to solve x problem by asking us NOW."

good luck

Your e-mail setting on this board is not turned on and you don't have enough posts for Private Messaging yet, so click on my profile and e-mail me the information about newspaper insert pricing and the how to's about it. That price included the printing too, right?

In case you are not authorized to send e-mails yet, sent to:
