Craiglist

I will like to know your opinion about CraigList.org - I did read an interesting article about this site, it seems to me that it's a good method to use for publizising my name.
i got an email from craiglist where it says they will put my name on their emails to the mailing list that they have, but I'm not convinced about that sine my name could it be considered as a spam, and I do not want to be categorized as a spammer, besides I think I will not have control of the targeted area, and I will not be 100% sure if they are doing a good job.

i maybe wrong, what do you think, please participate and give me feed back on this.

make it a great day

If it's their "in-house" list there is very little chance you'd be considered a spammer. They would most likely meet all the requirements for CAN-SPAM compliant email.

BUT... An email campaign is probably not what I would be looking at for a Contracting business. The demographics of the list would be waaaay to broad.

Do they offer targeted mailings or is it a one shot deal to their database in your local area?

Re: Craiglist

Craigslist is a fantastic, grass roots style resource. UTILIZE IT!!!

I am not familiar with their Advertising practices, although I do know that the owner(s) of the site has dedicated himself to not "selling out" the site's user friendly styling.. so I doubt there's any "spamming" going on

At the very least, you should be putting up advertisement listings in their appropriate sections.. Make your self sound as appealing (and vauge!) as possible.. I say vauge, because you want the potential client to at the very least contact you for clarity.. you take the sale from there!

Re: Craiglist

CL used to be a very good source for business. That was like 3-4 years ago. Today, it is a board filled up with spammers, and cheapos who`d like you to do everything and anything for nothing^^. I`m avoiding CL like a plague .

Re: Craiglist

^^Bleed is right to a point.... However, you miss 100% of the opportunities you don't take. Thousands of human eyes still view CL everyday, so I still think you'd be foolish to not utilize it (seeing as how it's FREE ADVERTISING and all)

Re: Craiglist

You may miss some "free" advertising, but from my exp. it`s not worth it. The biggest mistake I made in regard to CL was when i was looking for a tile guy, and I post my phone nr. there. LOL, my phone was OFFFFFF the hook! but only a handfull of calls were from the tile guys, most I got was not even related to tiling @ all.

I am not aware of any Craigslist e-mail. This sounds more like a scam and less like craigslist. I have been using C/L for years for one thing or another. Soliciting Business off C/L never worked out good. Like the others said. Most everyone on there wanted it (the work) for free. I buy and sell on C/L and thats about it. I have never been contacted by C/L of any e-mail list they have. In fact I believe they actually state, they don't have one.

Re: Craiglist

I am currently working on a project that I was contacted through craigslist. I had posted an ad for prefinished hardwood installed. The job is for a general contractor and turned into interior paint, some dryrot repair, and the hardwood install. Fair priced for the market in my area.

Re: Craiglist

I have to tell you we are pleased with Craigs List. We have closed 9 jobs so farso it has worked for us.

We look at it as another way to get your name out there. Yes we have had some cheap-o but no different than other sales process.

So go for it and give it a try.

you are partially right, because I noticed my inbox its getting a lot of spam after I posted my add in CL, but on the other hand I got one jod secured for $2500, and another one for a remo, may be coming, so i guess for free advertisement, one have to pay a little price.

Thank you for your feed back.

Make it a great day

I do not beleive that they do offer the data base, hence the email does not says that, but the email said that i was going to be charged $275 a Mo. and they can promote my bus. if I agree, also they sent the link for signing up.
I think i still have the email in the trash beam
