County Fair Vendor Setup.
I am the founder of the Four County Alliance Team, which is an elite group of contractors in our area, (one type from each niche, pre-screened, always helping each other improve etc.) and we are going to secure some large vendor spots at a couple county fairs in the area to brand our collective name, get business for each company within the "team" and make ourselves stand out from everybody else in the area.
We are thinking banners, tables, flyers, some kind of give away or carnival game to attract people etc. Can anybody give me any success or failures they have had at fairs or similar events that could help us along on the right track? Thank you very much! -Chris |

Re: County Fair Vendor Setup.
I'm trying to figure out the same thing. My city closes off the main street during a city celebration and allows local businesses to put up a booth. I'm trying to come up with something clever besides just handing out flyers.

Re: County Fair Vendor Setup.
Located in Mt. Airy,MD which is in the middle of Carroll County, Frederick County, Montgomery County, and Howard County.
It is a great location because many of the politicans and lawyers who work in DC and Baltimore commute from these counties. Hope that helps! Thanks to all that are responding! -Chris |

Re: County Fair Vendor Setup. There will be alot of people there and they need to remember you. They most likely do not what to carry around flyers etc.Who would be the most hated person or the most controversial person in the area for maybe a dunk tank? Team up with a charity that is well known. Hire a band? You need to have a draw to bring the people to you. Hire a skydiver to drop in the middle of a marked area within your show. He can have smoke coming out of the sky or have the american flag waving on the way down. Hire a hot air balloon and give people rides up and down? Find your HOOPLA FACTOR and go for it. |

Re: County Fair Vendor Setup.
We do a lot of events (51 last year) about 15 of these are Fairs. Man, I hate fairs. But they bring in business and that's what it's all about. We don't believe in any gimmicks or give aways. In my opinion it's all about the person working the show. He/she needs to speak to anyone within talking distance. We simply say goodmornig/afternoon/evening, would you like any information about sidng, windows or a sunroom? That's it.
If they say yes or seem somewhat interested we will give them more info and get into a conversation with them. We have flyers with a show special of $100 off any window, $1500 off any sunroom or siding project. If they will set an appointment at the show they will recieve an additional savings of $50 per window or $500 off a sunroom or siding project. That's the insentive. We are not there to collect names. We are there to set appointments. Other than the flyers, we don't have anything to give out.......not even a brochure.

Re: County Fair Vendor Setup.
I put our machine in a home and garden show this weekend. My booth won't be anything to fancy, I just heard about it a couple days ago and got in at the last minute. I have really had no time to prepare. It's an 8x20 booth, first thing you will see when you walk in is our machine....don't think it really needs to be fancy though the machine itself will attract a lot of attention. I got some double sided flyers printed and am printing a bunch of pics at home of it in action to hang on it. Going to put my laptop on the table with a slide show running and the wife made a bunch of dvd's to give out to people who want them.
It starts tonite and goes all weekend. I will take pics of my booth , post them and let you guys know what kind of results I get from it. If anyone is on the Island, stop in and say hi. It's in Parksville next door to the Wembely Mall |
