Company Introduction Letter - Help!
I was wondering if someone could assist me. My husband and I just started our wallcovering business at the the end of 2006. He has tons of contacts in the field, as he has been doing this business for almost 20 years. He wants to do an introduction letter to prospective clients (Hotels, businesses, etc.) I'm not really sure where to begin with this. I see there are several sites out there where you can have someone write something for you, but I can't belive that it's that hard that I can't come up with it myself. Does anyone have a sample letter or something I can use as a go by, just to get me started on writing? Oh how I hate writing...lol! Thanks!

Read The Ultimate Sales Letter by Dan S. Kennedy, you'll get some great ideas. Writing your own from scratch will be far more sincere than modifying someone else's template. The book is full of great ideas you can use. It's available in paperback for $15.

Mandeegirl, it's great to see another paperhanger on the forums. Not many around here. I can't really help you with an introduction letter, but contact me for more info to help you with the business. I know alot of hangers in your area.

Prowallguy, Thanks so much. Nice to meet you. My husband has been doing this for years, but I just got my first tast of it this past summer. Its a tough job, but their really are not many good paperhangers out there anymore. We are getting a lot of business, and I'm really suprised how much.

Re: Company Introduction Letter - Help!
The first thing is to figure out who he is targeting, because a letter to a general contractor would be much different than a letter to a residential consumer. You then must understand what that target wants and write your letter to fill their needs. I am going to assume you will be targeting GC's. (Also one other thing, a friendly letter is written different than a offcial letter, I would send a more friendly letter to a consumer and a more official letter to a gc). This is just written off the top of my head BTW...

Re: Company Introduction Letter - Help!
Keep in mind if you really want that letter read, take the time to address it by hand, and personally sign it. I don't read unsolicited mail, but anything that looks personal gets opened....flyers don't get a 10th of a second from me. Red ink that says urgent gets maybe a 10th more on the way to the shreader.....things addressed to me, James Ladwig, Ladwig Contruction, get my attention...things address "manager/owner/purchasing agent, etc, ect.....Ladwig Construction go in the shreader without opening.

Contractor Marketing Tips

Re: Company Introduction Letter - Help!
Remember that your contacts get mailings all of the time from people asking for referrals.
Two tips to get you "in".... First - copywriting is a very unique subject. A direct Response guy like Dan Kennedy is an excellent source. A simple tip I always use as a good "intro primer" is this. If you use use "we" and "our" more than you use "you and your"... your letter will not convert. People do not care about hwat you do - they care about what's in it for them. Secondly - you have to make your letter stand out. You have to realize who you are trying to reach - a busy business guy who gets TONS of mail... and hates wasting time going through it all. Instead of sending it in a regular envelope or manilla envelope... use a tube mailer. You can get them at the post office. The difference is... instead of your envelope getting stuck in with dozens (if not hundreds) of other pieces of mail... it HAS to stick out - just because of its shape... ... Which means it typically gets opened first.... before they get distracted... before they get their credit card bills... before they get their nasty customer mails... which is when you want them to think about you. Hope this helps! |

Re: Company Introduction Letter - Help!Quote:
So it has been tasked to me to go and re write our company letter, and I do what every other small business owner does. I get on Google for some good advice or pit falls to avoid in writing a business intro letter and stumble across one of my favorite forums here at Contractors Talk. I read through all the great advice, but then see the last comment which says "read the date this one is about a year and half old". I guess my concern is that people might take that as "please do not keep adding good content to this forum thread" That being said, if I had to guess DMAX wasn't looking to add good content, as much as he was trying to build a back link from a reputable industry forum to his business website. So I guess what I am trying to say is that these forums work and please keep adding quality content. Also, if you want to build a back link from the forum just put a little effort into the post. Thanks for all the effort from the contributors you rock! We certainly appreciate it. Empire-PLS (Shameless Right?) Last edited by jchopper70; 08-30-2011 at 06:46 PM. |
