Christmas Cards

Not sure if this should go in "Business" or here in "Marketing & Sales" - oh well, no biggie.

I'll be sending out Christmas Cards for the first time (from me as a tradesman). What would be an appropriate greeting inside? Just my name and a business card, a few words of a personal nature, or a generic "it was a pleasure helping with your redecorating project" ?

Or something else.

My handwriting is fairly wretched, so I will probably be putting them through the printer - maybe have my wife address them, if I can persuade her.

thanks

Re: Christmas Cards

Advertising should have purpose, so I always plant the seed for referals in Christmas cards. Something along the lines of thanking those that have referred our services this year, and helped us be successful is subtle enough and still plants the seeds.

Thanks Mike for the pointer in the correct direction,

I settled on,

"Thank you for helping make 2007 a good year
-Bill Archibald"

and put some cards in them.

Re: Christmas Cards

I use an online system. It works great. It's called SPAM.com
For instance I sent all my cards this year by uploading my contacts to the system and picking which cards I wanted to send. Wrote a personal note in the card (in my own handwriting and signature) and the company prints, stuffs, stamps and mails them. The personal handwriting font was the clincher for me. I also can take pictures and upload them to create my own custom card which works pretty well.
Best part is they cost me 62 cents + postage. Hard to beat.

I heard about it from a guy I met a few months ago. You can actually try one or two cards out by going to SPAM.com/SPAMacard

Probably too late for Christmas, but I plan on sending cards year round now that it's this easy. I can have my assistant do it in my handwriting too. Anyway, hope that helps.

I agree with Hammy, this is an excellent year-round marketing tool. Here is my other post concerning this:

Re: Christmas Cards

I think people want the CHRISTMAS card to be personalized, "Mr. and Mrs. Doe, It was a pleasure working with you on your (past project), have a merry CHRISTMAS", hanakuh, quanza, monkey jumping up and down day, what ever floats yer boat. And, of course thank them, in advance for their referall.

OH PLEASE, we learned in the 5th grade not to use "good" You cannot define good, its so bland, Wouldn't you rather have a GREAT YEAR! or a SPECTACULAR YEAR! or a WONDERFUL YEAR or even an AMAZING YEAR, I hope you didn't press print yet for your own GOOD
