Re: Canvassing Scripts

The 4 W's are a very important of canvassing.
1. W ho you are
2. W here you are from.
3. W hy you are there knocking on their door.
4. W hats in it for them.

Sometimes it is just a matter of knocking on the door and tell them that your company has done work in the area and just wanted to let them know if they would like to have a free estimate.

Re: Canvassing Scripts

Hi, I am sorry to disturb you. I was just talking to your neighbors. I work for Home Sealed and we are currently installing new__________ for some of your neighbors and I thought you might appreciate some free information on some of our services. I will have a representative in the area over the next 2 days giving estimates and product demonstrations to some of your neighbors. Is tommorow at 5 pm good or is 7pm better.

The most important pitch is the very begining. The trick here is to engage in conversation if they like you and have a need in what you are offering, then you probablly can get the lead.

Re: Canvassing Scripts

After you have knocked on the door, step back a few feet at least. You have already invaded their space, so no need to get in their face.

Recruiting is the key. When you interview people should should tell them exactly what you expect from them. With the economy the way it is now, it should be a good time to recruit the people you need.

Re: Canvassing Scripts

I've been canvassing door-to-door, getting leads for free estimates on aluminum patio covers. I need some suggestions on "my script". I feel I've got the introduction down, I know to smile, smile, smile. I don't stand too far or too close to the door, I ring doorbell, etc., etc., etc. What I specifically need help with is how to respond to statements like this: "My brother does patio covers"; or "I'm in construction"; or "We won't be ready for another six months". These are a few of the most common "excuses" I hear. I can't seem to find any information beyond "the four W's" that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. And, like I said, I've got my introduction down. Any advice would be so appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Canvassing Scripts

As far as the 6 month is concerned you can tackle it from a couple of angles.
1. You can tell them that the estimate is good for 6 month hence they can already schedule an appointment, and then let the salesperson deal with trying to close them early with an early bird discount.
2. You can kindly request email/phone number and ask them if its all right if you contact them 3-4 month down the road for a second chance to create the lead, so essentially they are becoming a call back.

As far as the brother does patio story, well just like with any objection you must first agree with them and let them drop their guard, then go back at it with a nightmare story about doing business with friends/family.

I also know a top of the line salesman that both his ears are plugged up with cotton balls, when he wants them to be of course. He just keeps on pitching, laughing & making jokes with the customer like he never heard the objection and eventually breaks them down. You can also try that as well but be ready for a few doors slammed on your face lol.

socal canvasser, please email or pm me i have a few questions for you.

Re: Canvassing Scripts

If they have a friend or family member that does the work then you just hit a brick wall.
If someone says that they have plans to do the project then you basically already have the money in your pocket.

Expert canvasser. You can message me for any help with a script or rebuttals
