Re: Canvassing

Wpc, would you be willing to show me how your department works. I live in Staten Island, and do interior finish carpentry work. I've always thought about doing this. I'd like the chance to ask you questions, and experience what it is your doing. In exchange for your help, I'd be willing to pass quite a few quality leads your way every month. Please pm me.

Thanks

Now that sounds like a great idea. Do you want alot of leads? You can contact me and i will arange a visit so you can see my system in action. I only market Replacement windows and Vinyl siding. My guys dumb luck into the type of leads that you do. Its so amazing how this works. I can't wait till I really get this rocking at full capacity. if I am right about 5 leads per day with one guy, think about what 40 will produce. Next week my team will be up to lucky number 13. I still can not belive how this started with just me writting 5 leads per day in November, the week before Thanksgiving. This is really quite fun. Had the best month ever last month. I just raised the bar for Febuary. Any way email me and i will arange some time to show you how its done. wpchere2day@yahoo.com

Re: Canvassing

Can you breakdown what your guys are doing?

Walking down streets beating doors, explaining your services etc...

Can you give us some more detail on how you are getting so many leads?

Edit: Feel free to email me

Re: Canvassing

I set up a department with the sole purpose of generating leads. I set goals and then I reach them. I play the numbers. If you knock on one hunred doors, you will get plently of leads. I knock on about 1500 doors per week and get a 10% response= 150 leads. I weed out the trash, set appointments and sell.I specialize in recruiting, training and motivating others to do the job on a daily basis. My system works because I am consistent. My boss seems very pleased. He is no longer worried. It took some convincing.I would say january did it. I would take some about a week of trainning, then they should produce simmilar results. Its a little easier said then done. Do you want to the this for yourself. I am working on a manual right now.

That is an insane number..Couple questions, how many of those leads actually turn into sales appts/estimates, and how many of those leads(percentage) are closed sales? Also, how many salespeople do you have going out on all these appointments? To me, the canvassing seems like the easy part, closing such a high volume of sales and growing your workforce to handle all the work seems like the challenge.

Re: Canvassing

i to am now doing the same as wpc. and last night i had my 1st canvasser call me to apoligize because she had to quit earlier than expected to see her mom and she was sorry because she only brought in 9 leads!
now i have not called and set these leads yet but will do so between now and monday. and i will let you know how they panned out.
wpc has contacted us and we are using some of his ideas however i believe that we can set many more by calling in to the office with the prospect at the time of the initial connect and interest.
can you imagine like wpc says having 5-10 of these people out thier canvassing it would be incredible.
now i have always been a believer in canvassing and have been doing it for years myself just never could get other people to buy into it enough for them to produce but after using some of wpc tips for training it is now starting to pay off or at least i can start to see the light
keep up the good work wpc, i'll be looking for my commission checks in the mail ha!

Re: Canvassing

How many of those leads turn into sales??? Hmmm, well I will tell you I see sales everday, and I mean EVERYDAY. I can not tell you my financials. January was a record month. Canvassing is having your very own personal marketing dept.. With one goal in mind.. Produce leads.. What is your sales team goal?

Today is a very cold day. The wind is blowing and its misserable outside.Today our lead count is 15 so far.... If you are planning on running a program like this you need to be a very good motivator.

Canvassing is the only way to go right now. Yes you need to keep them motivated and offering some spiffs sure does help. Cold or rainy days can sometimes turn out to be awesome days. You never can tell. Consistency is the key with canvassing.

Re: Canvassing

I am so gladd that the only thing I have to worry about is making sure we have enough leads. My job only depends on this department. I can say that we had to hire more salespeople, and it looks like production will eventually have to keep up. If I get a sales rep in front of a customer and he can not close, I am thankfull that I know the true value of a rehash program. If there is a oppertuntity, we won't miss it. By the way my number went up to 17 so far today, and there where 2 same day appointments. Not bad!

Re: Canvassing

out of the 9 leads brought in friday from canvassing we set 5 ran 2 already and sold both one was a $2600.00 sale for a garage door 9x7 uninsulated installed
the other was a $31,000.00 porch enclosure that already has the roof and the floor in place all we are doing is supplying and installing sliding doors and windows .
i'll keep you filled in on the success rate of canvass leads as we keep going
i hired 2 more canvassers yesterday and they were siked about getting started.
unfourtunitly the weather has not cooperated with us here in the northeast and to get them motivated is hard when i wouldn't want to be out in this cold myself.

Re: Canvassing

wpc,
your not a jerk dude! you've just got it going on right now. i just did'nt feel like dealing with it yesterday and today. remember i only have 2 salepeople to keep busy you got a whole lot more. so i have the luxery of taking it slow right now for a day or two if i want cause we just finished with our 1st home show of the year on sunday and did really good there also with leads and both salepeople are booked solid for the next3 weeks.
so my biggest problem is getting another salesperson on board to keep up. and i can see that i will have to hire more installers to keep up also.
hey but remember wpc, canvassing don't work its to pushy!
i sure hope these other guys keep thinking that so when we expand into thier area we can take thier work to.

.
Vinylguy that must of been a great home show to book that many leads. I wish the shows around my area produced like that. How do you get so many leads? Do you do some kind of contest or giveaway?

Re: Canvassing

walker ,
yes we have the prospects register to win new windows for thier home.
the thing is when you go to the home shows pay attension to what everyone thier is doing thats has a booth.
my guess most are sitting on a chair in the corner of thier booth and reading a paper or talking on the cell phone.
that won't work in my world we stand all nite or day wear good shoes
then we ask people when they come by if they would like to enter to win windows for thier home
this is the moment that they come up to myour table then yuor one on one with them and learn what they are looking for at the show.
you write that info on the back of your lead sheet to use later then be sure they sign the bottom stating that you will be calling to confirm thier entry and of course you can't call them if they win if they don't sign because its against the law to call without permission.
there ya go now you go home and call them confirm thier info and ask if they would like a free estimate.
hope this helps!

Re: Canvassing

I just added another member to my team today. That brings me to a total of 13 full time people knocking doors. I will be shooting to be at 20 strong before the end of the month. I really enjoy this type of marketing, it really dose bring in alot of leads on a daily basis. I can't wait till it warms up, so we can really get this program working. Most of my competitors are probably complaining about either not enough leads, or paying too much for them. LOL

Re: Canvassing

well febuary was looking a little lite compared to january, but we are off and running strong with 16 leads today so far and i am looking to have 40 leads by the end of the day. I will let you know how we pan out. I am a firm believer in having a success system for the canvassars to follow. This will bring your leads in on a consistent daily production.

What counties in New Jersey are you working in? I imagine your working in a area where the houses are real tight? Union and essex counties maybe?

I am really impressed by you. Majority of what you do will not work for my business. But wither way i am still impressed.

Re: Canvassing

Thank you Ruskent. Yea those are my areas and then some. Today was a 43 lead count day. That is well over a hundred and fifty this week so far. I forgot about Monday being Presidents day, that will be like a Saturday for us. I really have a great team of people working for me. It is really amazing how this is going. It is running like a machine that wont stop.
