Re: Canvasing For Leads

Seriously, Reno-

All jokes aside,...

I think combined with your experience,...talent and enthusiasm-You and wpc could kill it.

Just out of curiosity,...Are you guys planning on handling just the lead obtaining and then handing the leads elsewhere, per say to a construction company who at that point they'll handle it from there, or are you guys going to generate the leads,...sell the jobs,..and then sub it out?

You have the potential to really do well I think if it's the later.

-Good luck, and keep us posted!

Re: Canvasing For Leads

Handy: Thanks for the thumbs up. We will be doing it all our own, already have the trucks, installers shop & warehouse etc. All we are now recurting sales and canvassers - already have enough to get started. Not sure if we will outsource work at this point. As far as the leads...well there all ours lol. We have many things we will be doing outside the norm - we will be keeping everyone posted - or I will since Wpc broke his laptop. We want to ROCK this industry and bring it back to where it was years ago - and trust me it will ROCK.

Re: Canvasing For Leads

@ almreno: Man, I thought I was aggressive, you top the cake.

I read every post on here while I should be doing paper work instead. I couldn't believe what I was reading. It just goes to show me I have much work to do and lots to learn. I never realized what canvassing was all about, I just assumed it was picking an area and marketing it to death...boy was I wrong.

I love people and I have great luck at closing sales and talking to strangers and making them feel good. Going door to door in a real methodical approach is interesting. I have gone door to door many times and I thought I was doing well but you are a real pro, my hat is off to you. You just made me rethink how I do things. I think I'm a little too casual but at the same time people like to talk to me. You actually keep track of closing percentages etc, that's more than I have ever done....at least to that degree. I'm busy with my business but wish I could do more of that because it's fun to meet new people.

I guess I don't really have any good questions on this thread, I just thought I would comment because I think it's great to see an aggresive business owner. Good job, I think it's cool how you approach it....top notch stuff here!

Mike

Mike - Thank you for the kind words. I will let everyone know how things are going and if there is anything WPC or myself can help with - just let me know anytime.

Just remember "The person who thinks he can, and the person who thinks he cant" are both right.

I have never once hired anyone who has knocked on my door and bothered me at my home. Matter of fact, I almost punched the kid in the face who came to my door and said "Hi, are you interested in a free roof?" Told him to get out of my neighborhood before I report it.
You say no-one, sry, more like NO-ONE, im sure with an angry face.... its funny since ive built a business from mainly door to door.... along with many other companies. I would bet that NO-ONE is probably a tad bit general, wouldn't you agree. I do agree that some people, id say about 10% are just flat out annoyed, 70% just dont care, or dont need or want what your offering, and the other 20% are happy your there so they dont have to search for something they need and just were putting off, after all, who is really excited about a roof. That being said, in the roofing business (with regards to a storm), its a cycle. The 2 days after the storm, you get hugs for being there so fast.....3 and 4 days get exponentially worse as everyone with a half working vehicle and a tooth heads in to wrangle up some beer $. This is when people start to get annoyed..... I guess the point is, EVERY HUMAN ON THE PLANET loves it when i or anyone in our company stops buy to see if they need a roof, some siding, or just a hug.....and you never know, sometimes those hugs just may lead to a gutter job

Re: Canvasing For Leads

proposing that I do something illegal. How about this, you do floors right? Theres this beautiful 10 thousand dollar floor. Now, something happened to it and insurance is going to cover it. Well the company that comes in before you tells the HO no, dont worry, we will pay your deductible. It will cost you nothing out of pocket. Now you, being ethical and having morals know that is illegal and you explain that to the HO but now the homeowner doesnt care because thats 1 grand less he has to pay. Now, you lost the job because of that guy. Now picture after every hail storm, a WHOLE bunch of companies come in from out of state and knock on every door and have them sign binding paper work after that company says I will do your roof for free. Would you not get annoyed? Ask any legitimate roofer how they feel about door knockers who say " I can get you a free roof"

I should have read a bit more threads to see this, i apologize for jumping to conclusions about you hating all canvassing. I fully agree with you on this. It does make it alot more difficult when the unethical contractors come through and throw around deductibles like its the roofers job to eat that cost to begin with, not to mention that it is illegal. I dont want to even count the jobs lost to these guys from them covering deductibles for a neighbor or friend, and our client says "why do we have to pay our deductible". Im still offering hugs though

Sorry to hear that financing fell through Reno, but keep doing what you do best.Things happen for good reason. Have you thought about franchising with someone who finances? Hard to find, but they are out there for the right candidate with an ownership mentality. With your marketing skills, you can be very creative to sell yourself to the right opportunity. You have your skills as a downpayment, don't forget that value above dollars in hand and work with what you have. Message me with your email. I have several connections that may help you get going but most would require travel.
