Calling Prospects

What would you guys do in this situation?!??

I am doing some major work on a house right now, the homeower has been very pleased with my work ethics and has been spreading the word to her co-workers.

One co-worker seemed highly interested in using me from what my client was saying she is getting ready to start a catering business and is wanting to do a full scale kitchen remodel to operate her business out of.....my client gave a few of my cards to the potential prospect and I was really getting excited about placing a bid on another kitchen remodel, unfortunately it has been three weeks with no calls from them.

Now heres my question....would you guys call that person and offer your services, and try to set up an appointment, or would you wait it out and see if they are going to call? I have a 3 week hole in my schedule that is not looking good for me....but I dont want to call and sound desperate for work.....I am sure many of you have experienced this frustration before. Any advice is always appreciated!!!!

If I needed the work... You bet I would. WAY out of my comfort zone, but so is not working and running low on cash. When I dont need the work I just wait it out.

Re: Calling Prospects

By all means, call. You don't know if the other friend said they would have you call first and forgot to mention it to you. Short and sweet phone call that makes yourself available to the potential client should be just fine.

"Hello Mrs. XX.. this is *** of *** company. How are you this morning? The purpose of my call is that while I was doing *** project at Mrs. YY's home, she mentioned that you might be thinking of completing a project as well. I just wanted to call briefly to introduce myself to you. If you have any questions about your project, I'll be happy to answer them, or if you like, we can set up a time that is convienient for me to come out for a consultation."

The ball is in her court from there on... follow her lead. The goal of the call is nothing more than to introduce yourself formally to her, and make her comfortable to seek more information from you. If they are interested, your icebreaker call will suffice.

Thats the situation I am in.....it is definetely far from my comfort zone .....I have been waiting it out and everytime I see the homeowner I am doing work for she asks me if her friend has called me yet...I keep saying "nope"

I really want to call, but I dont want to sound desperate

Re: Calling Prospects

I agree with those that said "call!"

Worst thing that can happen...she says "no", for whatever reason...Her BIL is doing the work, she changed her mind, she can't afford to...

Or is that the worst? What if three months from now, your client tells you "you should have called her! She got tired of waiting, and called someone else!"

To me, that's worse!
