Business Cards

What are your guys' opinions of an odd shaped business card.
Example: Rhombus shaped

I think this is what I call a parallelagram. Okay, not sure about that spelling at all, but it is a rectangle with slanted sides.
For those who slide cards under desktop glass it miight be eye catching?

Re: Business Cards

Might not fit the normal places you put them. Have you seen the ones that come in a sheeth and you run it on yer rom drive? Those are cool.

Haven't seen them.

I did think of that. I'm thinking these would be the same width as normal cards long corner to long corner.

If you are good at what you do,all you need is a name and phone # on on a rectangle white card.

Re: Business Cards

I had some printed on Rolodex stock once. I still have most of them. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but....

For resi work, refrigerator magnet business cards are still very popular among my customers. It seems people clamour after frige magnets, for some reason.

Re: Business Cards

I went to HD and bought some self adhesive business card size magnets and just stuck my business cards on them. The magnets were I think $10 for 25 and my customer are tickled when I give them one or two. They keep them near the registers so check there!

I can definitely see where those could be useful.

Re: Business Cards

Check ebay for business card magnets. I got 500 for about $40 shipping included. I'll stick a bunch of cards on the magnets while I'm sitting in front of the boob tube at nite with nothing good to watch. I think I got mine from an ebay store called Magnet Valley.

I stay with stock cards because the fit into many file systems that are in common use.

I'm going to plastic cards because they don't disintegrate, a lot of my clients boat, fish and dive.

I used the magnetic cards back in the start-up days. Have a magnetic sign made up that says "Take one" and put the mag cards underneath it. Attach all to your truck and you'll be suprised on how fast those cards will go. Leads will follow.

That's a pretty good idea there! And to think I was going to drill a card holder into the side of the new Av.

Re: Business Cards

Try vistaprint.com. I have been using them for a few years great products and cheap. I get 250 cards at time for $5.25, and magnets 50 for $10.45. They have been great so far. I also had thank you cards printed up too.

Re: Business Cards

Whenever I see fancy / gimmicky business cards it always reminds me of someone who shows up to a job with all brand new never been used tools. Makes me wonder why they are doing it? Are they new to the trades? Are they having trouble getting work?
In general the busy / successful guys all seem to have the plainest of cards.

... just my opinion.

I know what you mean about the new tools. Not the case here at all. Actually I need to do some updating in this area. Not much really. I might get a new power washer and power miter saw. All my shop saws are still in good shape after about 20 years.
