I think $40,000 is a bit much for a website for a contractor, mainly because most contractors don't need a fancy website. Just a few pages to advertise what they do.
But I think that its odd that we are only willing to spend so little money on a website, when we spend so much on everything else. It's has been my experience that many contractors still don't think websites are important to have. And really I believe they are the best form of advertising for companies. Whenever I see a contractor driving a van with a phone number and website, i always remember the website, never the number.
