Biggest Bang For Your Buck
I need to come up with a strong advertising campaign. I was going to hand out fliers (door to door) but here in MA you need a permit thru the local P.D. and in their words," We don't like doing that". So I'm wondering, in what advertising campaign would you get the biggest bang for your buck? The local paper with about 3500 readers charged $470.00 for 4-line ad for 21 days. At this particular point in time I'm looking for low-budget solutions. As I said in previous posts, I've only been in business for myself for about 1 1/2 years and most of my leads are by referal, but the well is drying up.The whole business end of this has got me going crazy. Are there any good business books that you know of or would a business course at the local college be what I need? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Biggest Bang For Your Buck
Business courses certainly won't be a waste of time for you, but they won't help you with your marketing. You might want to look at some marketing courses for that.
From what you said about the permit and the police being reluctant, that avenue would perk my curiosity, because in marketing if you can find a resource that other people aren't using that much it can be a gold mine for you. From your description if the police will issue you a permit, but it is going to be difficult I would certainly look into that. 99% of your competition is going to always give up and go down the path of least resistance and do what everybody else is doing. If you have the will to plow through the red tape and get to do what most don't I'm betting you will be pretty happy with the results. |

Re: Biggest Bang For Your Buck
I throw 20 or 30 qualified leads a week to my good customers. Make sure your prime suppliers know that you are willing and interested in pursuing those leads, and most importantly, follow them up. Nothing I hate worse than giving a referal and the customer calls back for more because the contractor did not bother to call them back.
