Anyone Here Use R.S.V.P. Mailings?

Hello
A friend of mine owns a few franchises of this and have used it a couple times with limited success in our market. Anyone have any comments/experience good or bad? She offered me a "discounted" rate this month and wanted to see thoughts.

They are a targeted demographic if I remember for the top 10% income in your region. They are a high cost per thousand, meaning for a limited mailing a bit expensive, even at a discounted rate( depending on how much)

If you offer an elite service it may be decent, but I don't recommend it this time of year or for such a limited quantity at such a high price. 50% off I may consider it.

The problem starts with this isn't a one time "winner" with bringing in lots of clients. It isn't a solution. With any good advertising, it starts with branding, frequency and the message in the ad. A call to action, urgency, value. Problem, solution and benefit. That is hard to fit into a small post card and create leads with one mailing.

I used them in the past and had some success. The coupon is mailed to a higher income demographic. Like any media, repetition was necessary and the offer needs to stand out. This was a couple of years ago.
In the current year I think the response on direct mail is having limited results. I have one client who recently mailed out 60 thousand pieces, with excellent artwork, a strong offer, with a call to action and he got very poor results. Last year his phone rang consistently, this year hardly at all. Most contractors I am talking to are having poor results with most direct mail programs. The only type of mailings that are getting acceptable results seem to be radius mailings around ongoing projects.

Have you tried mailings or newsletters to your customer base?

From my experience, it's been horrible.

I work with a basement waterproofing/foundation repair company. Our work is not glamorous, but does come with a decent pricetag. Higher incomes are "able" to buy our service, but for us it doesnt mean they necessarily "want" our service.

Because of this fact, the higher CPM rate outweighs the value of targeting a high-income demo.

If youre selling high-end elegance, it may make more sense. People living in the ghetto do not buy $80,000 kitchen remodels.
