All The Contractor Website Companies

Halos emailed me today, probably got my info from CT postings. I talked to these people a year ago. There are other companies besides Footbridge that do good work. I know of 3 that consider themselves contractor website exerts.
Halos
Footbridge
Market Hardware
Anybody know of any others?

Re: All The Contractor Website Companies

This is just a "Personal" Opinion.

I think it is alright if someone mentions their own website and how happy they were with the work someone did for them.

But to openly post as much competition as possible for Footbridge Media, who has been a long time supporter of Contractor Talk, just does not sit right with me. Their also was another, named Vision Web Services, who i have not noticed in a while, come to think of it.

If I were Aaron O'Hanlon of Footbridge, I would be wondering why all of the other companies would be allowed to have their business solicited for free, while he has been paying his dues to this site, to support us to continue in our earnest desires to continually improve our contracting businesses.

And no, I unfortunately, for the sake of this arguement, did Not use Footbridge as my web designer and host, so my viewpoint should be unbiased and impartial, with some common business logic interspersed in with that.

Support those that are supporting all of us.

Well dog-gone if Ed hasn't finally gotten a site! About time you put a link in your sig Ed.

Now that your site is finished, you can start working on it.

Nice catch - I missed that

Ed - site looks good

Of course - after 6 months or was it longer it had better. Different company finish it for you, or was it the original guy? Congrats

Re: All The Contractor Website Companies

I don't follow your point Ed. I was curious as to just how many professional website (contractor type) builders there are out here.

Are you saying I should not ask this question because Footbridge advertises on CT?
Or did you mean the other companies should not solicit from CT threads?
If its the second one, then we are in agreement.

PS, you got the same clipboard guy as Kitchen solvers.

Sharp eyes Frank. i just added it to see how long before it gets spidered and I find it on that Outbound and Inbound link site I posted on NRG.

It was the same guy. It started last March. It still needs some work, like dead links and some more personalized content, etc...

I was speaking from a "Personal, Yet Protective" point of view, trying to show support for the one who advertises here. That is specifically why I mentioned that it was just my "Personal" opinion, not one of the moderators consensus or Nathans, since I have not brought it up to the level that it needed to be discussed privately with them.

Part of me wishes that I had stuck with my original decision to proceed with FootBridge, since I would have been up and running no later than mid-April, and that will be very relevant this upcoming year, since I was forced to drop my yellow pages because I got too far behind with them.

I'm not following it either.

Are you criticizing Paul just for wanting some opinions on other sites or criticizing Paul because he doesn't want to kiss the advertizer's feet?

I didn't know it was a requirement that when we post we need to make a nod to the advertisers.

I sure hope SM doesn't start advertising on CT.

2nd PS- Ed, you can inmprove your keyword search results by making your signature link look like this:
<a href="www.rightwayroofingcompany.com">type desired keyword here</a>

PS- this was written while you were posting the above...

Re: All The Contractor Website Companies

Silvertree actually contacted Footbridge for service but they refused because of the rule of one remodeler per area.

That is a very limiting factor for their company. A good idea because of the type of work they do which would literally put all of us in competition against each other, but it puts the other contractors who where not the first at a disadvantage in my opinion.

So the other contractors here have to find other Website vendors for their sites if Footbridge has a contractor in their area that do the work that they do.

1st, it was Just an opinion. But, I think we all understand that now, so thats all from me on that. Remember, Opininios are like azz-holes.

Now, regarding the desired keyword thing tag.

Is that how you make it so the actual URL of someting does not sho up, but the word(s) you are trying to suggest show up instead?

Does the URL still get spidered or tracked by being hidden that way?

That is true Rory, but that's business and I have not said anything negative about them.
So, being curious about other sources seems like a reasonable thing to ask on an open forum like CT. But hey, no hard feelings to those muther f***ing snot a**ed ball Li*king puds

In short, yes and yes.

I have some pretty hard evidence (reports of my rankings on the keywords listed in my sig in all 3 major search engines) that the keywords in my sig have a significant effect on google search results, namely that searches which exactly match my sig result in much better results than a similar geographic search wich doesn't exactly match my sig.

I think for you and Owen and other hands on guys Footbridge would not work.

You guys are at the hands on stage. I do not have access to my site anymore. I can not make any changes myself.

When I first started my website I enjoyed making the changes, now I don't care. I just want to rank well and stay ahead of the competition. It is much hard to do that now than 6-7 years ago when I started the website stuff now every body and their momma has a website.

We got roofer's and kitchen guys with websites for christsakes

I just need it up, working, converting leads and in the top 3 on the first page for my key words

RBS, it's called anchor text linking. The search engines like it when a relevant word or phrase (to the content) links to another relevant site or page.

He gave you the code in his post.
