Aggressive Residential Marketing

Other than door hangers (I consider this aggressive because you're actually setting foot onto someone's property, unsolicited) and knocking on doors (I consider this sleazy, just my opinion though)

Any ideas for more aggressive marketing

(Passive = phone book, newspaper)

(Why am I talking in paranthesis so much)

Bull horn mounted on your equipment, streamers, and balloons. Drive up and down the streets .....

What about direct mailings... make a nice brochure introducing your company and what services you offer, with pics?? I made a really nice for my GC using MS Publisher.

Re: Aggressive Residential Marketing

I don't necessarily think it's sleazy to go door-to-door. If you're clean cut, wearing a nice company shirt, have a flyer or business card, or some type of promotional item with your company info on it (could probably think of a lot of things with the holidays coming up) to pass out, are not pushy etc. You'll do fine.

I can't stand solicitors, but I'm a sucker when I'm face to face with someone, as long as they're not pushy.

Okay, I got one for ya.

Since the holidays are comming up, you could dress up like Santa Claus with the beard, the hat, the boots and all, but with swim trunks on (ya know cuz you do pools and all), and walk down the street (or be pulled by a sleigh and 8 tiny reindeer) on a Saturday afternoon, blasting Christmas carols, yelling, "ho ho ho Merry Christmas" and throw out candy canes wrapped with all your company info! People would definitely remember you and you'd make them laugh and their kids will love it!

Re: Aggressive Residential Marketing

Yard signs, proximity marketing (postcards and door hangers), vehicle signs, sign promotion, referrals (ask for them) all work as a part of a marketing plan. (Parenthesis can be a good thing.)

Don't count on one thing, because "no one thing" works.

Re: Aggressive Residential Marketing

well, i can tell you what not to do. tackling someone and shoving your card in their mouth, while threatening to kill them if they don't use you. not a good, aggressive marketing technique.

don't ask how I know, just trust me on this.

Re: Aggressive Residential Marketing

Next year i am making a big push to make my fiberglass pool venture a success. I am planning on spending around 30k on advertising. It will be a mix of direct mail letters and postcards, home shows, yellow pages, and enclosed trailer lettering.

If i stay the course and acctually spend the 30k i should be able to pull down some decent sales #s.

This year i set a budget of 10k, but i think i only spent 5,500. I started getting real busy and got a lot of referals and stopped advertising. I was worried about finding help int he middle of the season if i signed to much work. Well i won't make that mistake again. I have a crew lined up for the spring, that will allow me to spend more time working ON the business.

Been there done that. They give you a 6 x 8 padded cell and a new jacket to wear.

Re: Aggressive Residential Marketing

It depends on how aggressive you want to be and how much budget you have to work with.

Are there any upcoming community festivals or events in your area? If so, secure a booth or vendor spot. Set up some displays of the type services you offer either in 3D model form of new construction homes or photos. Or a video showing over and over. One way to draw ppl to your booth is offer a contest or drawing for a free " insert any chosen item or service". If your budget supports it, go to Walmart, buy a $200 television and raffle it off at the event. Pocket calendars, pens, any promotional item works usually if your on a smaller budget. People love free things. Put the entry from at the bottom of one of your sales flyers in which they tear off the entry and hopefully retain all your info until they get home to really look over it. If you don't have a free giveaway to draw them over, then have barrels of bottled water to give away. (It's cheap when bought in bulk at Sam's Clubs etc and something most people like)

If you raffle something off, I'd suggest not doing it immediately at the end of whatever event... give it a week or so later to let them have a chance to think over your company name. "Oooh, I hope I win that TV that So and So company is giving away", and every time they are thinking that your name is becoming part of their long term memory.

Then after the giveaway, make it part of the conditions (signed in writing) that you can publish the winners name. Post the winner and their prize in the local newspaper which gives you double exposure.

Do you want to go back to some of my early posts? I really don't want to rewrite all of that again but it works really well.
