Advertising/Marketing Your Services At Hardware Stores

Ive been stressing this technique for quite sometime. How many of you guys have tried in advertising/marketing your services in your local hardware stores? Or any other store that sell supplies to GC. If so what type of technique do you tend to use, such as leaving a brochure of your service/ business cards?

Well first, it all most depend if the store can grant you permission to advertise your service... Most of the times from my understanding they let you to do so. But can this technique generate leads for your business?

I think the best advertisement at small hardy stores is just being friendly with the fellers that work there and building a repore. Shooting the breeze with em every once in a while. Eventually they'll tell some questioning customer about the work you do and how you're always in there.
Referrals like that are a far better source of advertisement than a brochure, flyer, mailer, billboard. And they are free and repeat.

We get leads like that a lot. And several tile shops give our number to customers.
We just scheduled a job wednesday with our mechanic's wife.

It's all about people.

If you care about the people the money will come.
If you care about the money the people will run.

I get a few decent leads a year out of our li'l ol' Ace Hardware stores even though I'm usually only buying stuff for myself there. Here, they still have that 'mom&pop' shop mentality which is why I go there, it's also closest to the house.

Re: Advertising/Marketing Your Services At Hardware Stores

Yeah I go to the "Ace" store for myself too Killer rebates and free stuff too.

But considering for Jobs- my BM+Coronado dealer paint store(which I almost feel sorry for after W*lmart put under a couple other locals)gave me as I gave them.
I only deal w/ them... and I asked if they knew of anyone looking for work--they got confused and thought I was looking for work--I told them "either way is fine"- well I got a "sub" job but gave me $ weeks of work and counting! Crap I thanked them and I still wanna hug them too!

So maybe ask if you can put your biz cards up or whatever they want to prefer--my paint store says they give the HO or customers three(3) biz names if any asks for reputable painters.
