Ad Tracking

Like most of you guys out there I am tired of paying for crap but I still need to spend money on some ads. A few of the things I have done have offered tracking phone numbers. Anyone know of a company that just does that where I can get tracking numbers for all of my ads in one spot?

I'm sure you can but depending on how many calls you get why not just ask.
Or get a couple diffrent numbers and only put one ad per #

Re: Ad Tracking

Asking is what I do but I never really go back and figure out where the calls came from and all that stuff. And getting multiple phone lines is a pain... I think I heard about some or saw it somewhere a while back where I could get multiple numbers that all feed into one line and also have all those calls logged so I know where each call came from. I just don't know where to find it or if it was a figment of my imagination. It was cool because I think they would record the calls and tell me how much it cost to get a call from each ad I had up or cost for each job I got or something.

Re: Ad Tracking

I have had 13 phone numbers for years.

They all go to my main office phone numbers.

It is called, Remote Call Forwarding.

For instance, several of the numbers for different towns that I advertise in, I use the most common and oldest well known prefix, if available and end with the word, ROOF.

For instance, (847) ***-Roof (7663)

Each line costs about an extra $ 20.00 or so per month, plus the remote call forwarding fee.

It is available directly from your phone company.

Then, when the phone bill comes each month, you can see all cals that got remote call forwarded.

Warning:
I multiplied the amount of telemarketing solicitation calls I receive exponentially, by the amount of phone numbers I have.

Ask for a list of available phone numbers with each prefix that you want and try to see if any have the word, so your number is branded, available.

You may have to call other phone carriers, since they bank the numbers. There is an extra fee to get the personalized number too, but that was just a one time charge.

I have 7 lines that are forwarded into my office and i will say the amount of telemarketers will drive you crazy. I bet i get no less than 30 a day.
I have the # so i look local and do the same thing and get old #. But just have the secretary ask where they saw us.

Re: Ad Tracking

Some of the advertising I use offers what you are talking about. (It's wierd I will tell you to log in and listen to the recordings of yourself on all the calls that came in!)

I'm pretty sure most of these advertisers who offer this service are using 3rd party companies, cause when I go to them I have to log in sometimes first based on a page just for the advertiser I am using.

I haven't gone and logged into any of these services in a long time so I'm not sure if I have any info on the ones I log into, but if I can find it I will post it here for you.

I will say other than wanting to listen to the recordings, or you want to get the phone numbers of the people who didn't leave a message, it's much simpler to simply make it a point of asking every lead that calls you where they heard of you and just logging it in a journal, be it paper or electronic.

Re: Ad Tracking

Here's the easiest way I know of to get multiple phone numbers to track ad results:

1. Get a Google Adwords account. It's easy. Just sign up. You don't have to actually start running ads right away, but if you have an account you can get access to tons of great tools.

2. Schedule a Google Audio Campaign. You can buy radio spots in lots of different markets through Google Audio. I've done it in several markets and I get spots at about one-tenth the cost that other people pay. You may not get on all the top tier stations, but you'll get a good number of impressions for not much money. If you're running radio in your market already you need to look into this.

3. Ask Google for a "Call Tracking Number". You can have up to 20 of them! They make them available for use with your Google Audio campaigns, but you can use them for any advertising. They continue working even if your audio campaign is paused or expired. I got one over a year ago and haven't run any radio for several months and the number still works. It forwards to my main phone number. You can get the stats for the phone number in your Google account. It will tell you where the call came from, what phone number called you, when the call came in and how many calls you have received on each number.

Not a bad solution for free, or nearly free. Plus, if you have a Google Adwords account, there are tons of amazing marketing tools for your web site that Google gives away. In the past people have paid hundreds or even thousands of dollars a month for the web tracking and analysis capabilities Google gives away for free. It's worth looking into if you haven't done it already.
