800 Numbers

I decided to go with an internet fax services, Thanks for the suggestions guy's.

Now I'm looking in to 800 numbers.

I want to get rid of my land line completely. as it is all I use it for is to forward to my cell.

I have a few concerns

1. marketing (the numbers been out there a while)
Allthough, it wouldn't hurt to start a new marketing push

2. is it cost effective (prices seam to vary a lot)
I would be able to recive the call and call them back, that would cut the cost.

Whats are you doing?

What percentage of your market area would otherwise need to make a long distance call to contact you?

Do you want to include among your prospective customers people who wouldn't spring for a long distance phone call?

Re: 800 Numbers

I dont think it is so much who wouldn't want to pay the long distance charge, as much as them thinking that I live to far away.

I have to travel a lot to get to the areas that I work, I'm also breaking into a new market (across state lines)

I just don't want to discourage people from calling. Also a lot of restaurants have locks on their phones (area codes)so the staff doesn't make long distance calls on the company dime.

About 2 years ago I had a hang up call and when I called back the manager told me that once he had dialed the phone number he realized that I wasn't local so he hung up. (I'm not local for anyone) I cover all of South easten Wisconsin, and now parts of Illinois

Re: 800 Numbers

If you are going to use an 800 #...

Go with an 800-Vanity #... It is an excellent marketing tool...

www.telename.com

I used to use them and they are reasonable...

I use a different company for my 800 # now...

You can get the phone company to give you local numbers in the towns that you're breaking into, and have them forwared to your real number. Companies do that all the time to appear local.
