New Lead RRP Record Keeping

i am hearin that of course we need to follow lead safe practices.but as far as recors keeping, its basically just a check list and the name of my firm as well as the name of the certified renovator on sight. also the signed pamplhlet. nothing about pictures or wipes..only test kit results if a test was used..is this correct?

seems fairly basic..at least no pictures..i have no time or room for them. that would be a nightmare of a storing task.

Re: New Lead RRP Record Keeping

I bought some 32MB San discs for my camera.
I plan to label, and file them away with the rest of the paperwork for each job.

So far I've used 1

Also used: 3 swabs, 1 brochure, 200' plastic, 1 hepa filter

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question.

The answer you seek is probably in here someplace though.

RRP stands for a new law, called Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP). Basically, a contractor needs to become a Lead Safe Certified Firm (using a Certified Renovator) to do any work on a home built before 1978.

You can read more here http://www.epa.gov/lead/pubs/renovation.htm

Nope - no pictures are required (let's call them a double edged sword - they can help you or hurt you if things ever go to court) but let's say that you walk onto a job that a HO started - paint chips everywhere, or just studs - might be nice to have if any issues arise later

Yes - they get a copy of your checklist, results, etc...
No they do not need to sign it
You can modify your checklist to put whatever you think is necessary on it - AKA a signature block (as long as the EPA requirements are met)

Re: New Lead RRP Record Keeping

to be honest,i have been doing most of this stuff before the rule minus the pamphlet nd check list. we never warned of lead,we just always made sure we were always clean and such.
in my opinion, the prep work is complete over kill and ridiculous. we always put fown plastic or drop cloths but the epa are being stupd and unreasonable. also, for removing siding, its utter nonsense.

The checklist you were suppose to be filling out anyways along with the other record keeping requirements. It's just that now, you have to give a copy of it to homeowners.

Re: New Lead RRP Record Keeping

this is the first time i am hearing about a check list. this was not taught in my class and i'm sure many others, how the heck is the epa supposed to send this new message! its another dumb move.
back to reality, if i hand a home owner this check list(saw the sample),how do i have proof the home owner recieved it? this question was asked but not answered.

by the way, here's an idea for the epa. educate homeowners by telling them since thy are grown ups perhaps they should take some responsibility in buying a home which may have lead. they could maybe say"hey, this house might have lead and my wife is pregnant and she wants to get pregnant again, should i buy this house or do i love it so much that i will be a responsible adult and go for a lead abatement?" no,why bother to spend all that money, just hire a contractor and have him worry about your childrens safety, why should you have to do that.

Re: New Lead RRP Record Keeping

Welter,

I created a signed receipt for the checklist, but a signature is not required (but I do it anyway).

The checklist was a new change made at the same time as the removal of the opt-out.
