Yup, The Site Is Slow

Sorry guys,

Once again our web hosting company is having problems. This time it's not a server issue but a connectivity issue. I'm trying to get it fixed as fast as possible and I'm sorry for the trouble.

We will be moving hosts soon.

Thanks,
Nathan

I thought it was was wireless card. I killed my internal one the other day and upgraded to a plug in "N", I thought my new card was breaking down.

Time to install a "donate now" button to raise money for for hosting/servers?

No.

I run a forum about the same size as this one, and my partner in that forum also owns a webhosting company. www.whitesoxinteractive.com

Re: Yup, The Site Is Slow

Hey guys,

The issue was with a router that carries the traffic and not the server itself... although we do need a new server pretty badly.
I just got word from the webhost that the issue has now bee resolved.

Thanks.

Thanks, but I've been planning for the extra cost for a while now and think I have it covered. I try to be here to serve contractors and not take their money... that's why we have advertisers

Thanks, but I think I'm done with small hosts. I've narrowed down my search to either The Planet or Rackspace. I'll be moving within the month.

Re: Yup, The Site Is Slow

Well, today I put in a order for a new server with a new host. Where moving to Dallas! (from Tampa)
The new server should be setup by Monday and then we will slowly start moving over the sites one by one. It may still be a week or two before this site moves but just wanted to keep you guys updated.

This new server is a bit of overkill but hopefully the site will be real fast, have fewer downtimes, and be able to handle a lot more growth. The fact is that we are growing fast and we need to be thinking ahead.

So anyways, just an FYI.

Re: Yup, The Site Is Slow

I thought that it was me! I ran every virus/malware program that I have and rebooted 3 times.

I had accumulated some adware as other sites were running slower than usual too.

Re: Yup, The Site Is Slow

Well, the site isn't slow for me right now but in general the server has had trouble keeping up and my host isn't really able to keep up with our traffic. I started with this host back when we were on a shared server with a bunch of other sites. They were great back then but as I grew into dedicated servers they had trouble and still are.

I'm moving over to The Planet which is major webhost who does nothing but dedicated servers so we are in good hands.
