Your Suggestion, Rewards For Employee Of The Week, Month?
I thought about it all last night after our staff site meeting. I need to pick up the morale on the job site I am now responsible for.
The morale of the staff is low, as is the site supervisor. We had a staff meeting yesterday to rectify some serious infighting and lack of cooperation, which were addressed. I also promised regular staff meetings from this point further. The meeting yesterday went well, but I think I am going to set up an employee of the week and month, for the supervisor to choose. My thought was for employee of the week doing a gift under $20 and for the month a $50 gift certificate for a restaurant. ( I have not told anyone yet, but was going to issue one today) To support the site supervisor, I was considering spending more time on the site, so that he has a more visible presence working with him, instead of me working in the office (it is more efficient for me to work at the office.) Getting the site morale up is critical to getting the site moving again. What do you think? How would you respond as a site labourer or carpenter to this type of incentive?

Our oldest boy[23] is a manager at crispy creme donuts and just this last Sat. he took us out to a great steak house.I had a $23.00 Fillet Mignon ,med. rare ,lovely!Anyhow, they gave him a card usable for a particular restraunt group, that owns half a dozen franchises, all nicer places like Bennigans etc..We had a great time.I think he got a $150.00 bonus.I was going for fish to take it easy on his budget but everyone else ordered steak and I love steak ,soooo. You can customize the reward to the specific person as well.If they'd rather buy tools than food for instance.Cash is probably the best so they can spend it as they wish.Perks sometimes can really make the job.I'm sure your people would be very appreciative .

When I worked for Dow Chemical, they had a reward program where indiviuals were granted a certain virtual dollar amount. They could log into a website where they could pick and choose from a wide variety of retailers to convert the virtual dollars into real gift cards/certificates.
http://www.globoforce.net/microsites...nt=myglobogift You can see what retailers are available by clicking on redeem my award and choosing the US. I have no idea what the program costs but it works well. Edit- it looks like anyone can purchase an award and send it to someone else via e-mail or snail mail. |

Re: Your Suggestion, Rewards For Employee Of The Week, Month?
I was kind of thinking of physically going and buying the under $20 gift or giving certificates for the worker's favorite coffee shop's
For the monthly gift, I was thinking of $50-60 (meal for two price range) at a fairly nice restaurant. Could also got to a contruction supply place and buy a quality tool. I generally don't want to lean towards gift certificates too much. It's a little less personal. I am also thinking of doing a project (sew on) crest and or lapel pin.
