Your Input Is Appreciated
We are a small home remodeling/renovation company, fairly new with the opportunity to do a proposal for a BIG project. We have done room additions, siding, remodels.
The project is basically rebuilding a home that was built in 1841. The foundation was redone approx. 10 years ago. It's not the work I have questions on. It's how you do your proposals on bigger projects. Would I be better off to do it in different phases, e.g. framing, roofing, etc? or do you do 1 huge proposal? As always, I appreciate the answers/opinions I get from most of you Thanks

Re: Your Input Is Appreciated
what makes this project (contract-wise) any different from one that you've already done??
in other words - why would there be a "different" approach needed |

Re: Your Input Is Appreciated
If your gonna contract the whole job then you do one big proposal...

Re: Your Input Is Appreciated
Yeah you don't wanna do it in seperate contracts. First off, it will get to confusing to both you and the customer when things need to be reviewed or addressed. Second, if your bidding the entire project you don't wanna do 20 different proposals, just do one long proposals, but maybe break it down into different sections.
thats how I do mine. I do projects that range from $1200.00 up to $60,000.00 and I write them all up the same. What I do is i'll just break down parts of the project on the proposal like Metal Framing,Sheetrock,Finishing,Acoustical. That way it's still one proposal however every aspect is addressed serperatly. Makes it alot easier for all parties considered. **My Two Cents**

Re: Your Input Is Appreciated
Is it a higher dollar amount then you're used to, or is it a different scope of work?
I've gotten scared before when pricing jobs that are higher then what we're used to. Like you said above, we break everything down, and we have a system in place so nothing gets left out. I've been told that if when you're finished you're nervous, tack on 10% or more to be safe and get a second opinion if not more. |

I agree with Mud.
Hey Melissa, When they ring you up and say we would like to accept your quotation so where do I sign, what do you think of first? What did I miss? You (or I) start to think you missed something while quoting. I'm sure that everyone else feels the same when they find out they won the job. (200)
