Your 2006 Goals

So, what are your goals for 2006?

Write them down in this thread and we will pull them up next year at this time and see how far you got.

Re: Your 2006 Goals

BTW, my goal is to grow ContractorTalk.com from 2,000 visitors a day to 5,000 visitors a day. And 200,000+ posts.

Not sure if I'll make it... but thats my goal.

Re: Your 2006 Goals

My goal is to re-vamp my company image completely and to increase sales dramatically. I'm about to have my website re-done, t-shirts, brochures, biz cards, and everything professionally done and increase our advertising budget. Since we'll be going into our second year in business, we have a much better understanding of where to go from here.

My main goal...to afford something real nice for myself by the end of the year! New truck? Boat? Hmm....

Re: Your 2006 Goals

To be more organized. Right now, I spend way too much time looking for stuff. Everything goes back into the trailer/truck at the end of a long day. It's late/wet/cold/dark and nothing gets put away where it belongs. I take stuff from the trailer and put it in the shop and after a while, it's just a heap of plumbing fictures mixed in with electrical switches, mixed in with wood screws.
I just started two huge storage cabinets over the weekend (8' tall x 4' wide x 2' deep) so I can at least walk a straight line.
I have though, figured out one thing about searching for that one elusive item you spend 2 hours looking for. If you go buy another one, it will turn up within 2 hours of the new purchase. Never fails.
That's my goal, so as soon as I can find my block plane, I'm getting back to these cabinets.

Re: Your 2006 Goals

Double My Effort's (Is that Possible?)

I need to work a lot smarter & spend my time more effectivly. I worked long day's last year & could have been way more productive with my time if I spent more time planning.

Re: Your 2006 Goals

-Run the business instead of it running me.
-Restructure, organize, set budgets, and goals.
-Attend more trade shows.
-Join NARI or NAHB, attend some of their courses.
-In need of one if not two trucks, one being a small dump truck.
-Restructure and revamp our benefits package.
-Increase our rates.
-Hire a lead carpenter that wants a career instead of a job.
-Buy much needed tools and equipment.
-Build a four bay shop with office space and a room above for a 5 year expansion plan.
-Triple our sales volume. Our backlog is already 45% there and it's only Jan. 2. So I may increase my sales goal depending on the help and subs we hire.
-Start the foundation for a real estate development/ investment company.
-Finish my own house before the misses hires someone else!
-Spend more time with my family.
-Take time to enjoy life outside of work.

-Plan 10 year in business party

Have a full schedule. Build capital to invest into a spec or multi-family project for next year. I think condo's are going to be the next boom.

Re: Your 2006 Goals

Im hopin to be able to afford a Lull lift or bobcat and trailer. Something for moving skids of brick on the jobsite around. Im also going to switch to Inc this year. Hopefully hit the 100k mark. Also as mentioned earlier in this thread, to get better organized. Its hard to put stuff away at the end of a long, wet, muddy day. Leave home when its dark. Get home when its dark.

maybe pay off my wifes car
get a trailer
get a new truck
triple my sales, work, and income (already on a good pace for this and it is only the second day of 2006 I am almost booked till end of Feb that is why I need to hire some people
end of 2006 BUY A HOUSE

Re: Your 2006 Goals

I have a lot of goals, but my #1 for 2006 is (drum roll please)

Finding affordable health insurance for me and the crew.
This would allow my wife to quit working and stay at home to play Mom.

Like Cole said, good luck. Probably easier to learn to speak Spanish instead.
