You Might Say I'm Lucky

I pulled up to my job site Friday morning and the gates were wide open. You can imagine how I felt if this has ever happened to you. On the first floor in the garage area I had received my entire tile order all my access panels and nearly everything to get my 6 story building through drywall. The first thing i did was run upstairs to see if the copper the generators were still there!!! Whew!! yes everything seemed to be fine.

The maintenance super came over to see me about noon and told me at 2:30 in the morning a van had backed up to the gates and 2 guys wearing hard hats went inside. He called the police. YAY!!! a good Samaritan in Harlem!!! They were arrested.

I guess the moral of the story goes. It doesnt hurt to be friendly to your neighbors when your building a project. Walk outside your gates once in a while, have a cup of coffee with the maintenance supers. And never trust one of your subs to lock the gates.

I think the funniest part of this is that the thieves were wearing hard hats!!! Safety First...

Being friendly or helpful to anyone who you have to work by is always a great thing to do. Make people feel as if you take into account their feelings or ideas or concerns and they'll go out of their way to help you. You might have to spend some time each day lending an ear but it usually pays off.
