Wrong Address

Saw this story on another site and wondered how often this happens. Hear about it from time to time, but haven't seen it.

This is one of those "it pays to do your homework" stories. It's true because I was a witness to it due to the customers are my next door neighbors.
My next door neighbor hired a paving contractor to re-pave his driveway (asphault). The contractor came out and bid the job and my neighbor accepted the bid. 3 weeks goes by and the paving company comes out to pave the driveway while my neighbor is at work. No big deal, right!
My neighbor comes home to find his driveway not done. It turns out that the paving company re-did the house on the otherside of my neighbor. They did the wrong house, the whole driveway (driveways aren't small in my neighborhood). My neighbor calls the contractor to complain and tells the contractor he did the wrong house! Well the lady who lives on the otherside, who got her driveway repaved, refused to pay for it (as right she should) and my neighbor refused to pay for it and demanded that he get his driveway done the next day. Well they came out the next day and paved his driveway the next day. But I can guess that they didn't make any money on that job!
The lady who got her driveway re-paved was actually very happy because her driveway needed it but she couldn't afford to have it done any time soon.
Tip for the contractor: check the address next time.

Re: Wrong Address

Buddy of mine had the same thing happen with a roof job, off and on, he didn't catch the maggots until noon.

I told him to finish the job, put on his best duds, dress one of the fellas like a photographer and be waiting when the HO arrived home form work.

"Congratulations! your the grand prize winner for a new roof!"

Whatever keeps it out of court baby.

Re: Wrong Address

Now that was some very good thinking. Never would have thought of doing that myself.
