Work Poll

This came to me after all the doom and gloom banter back and forth on the P & R page.
Is it possible to set up some kind of poll where members can check in day to day and either check off...worked full day; worked 1/2 day; didn't work today.
The results could be set up in a bar graph for weekly output; monthly output; quarterly output; yearly output.
This would give a visual barometer of how the slow down is affecting us.

Any other suggestions, chime in.

Re: Work Poll

That doesn't sound like a good idea at all. We all know the market at this point, as long as OUT OF COUNTRY work is being performed, you cant stop this. you can pick most of the work, but sometimes the work picks you. if you get slow, change tactic, change what needs to be done. Move out of your comfort zone, try something new. People everywhere, things always need to be done. This type of work here, that type of work there.

There is a company called Haliburt, if that is how its spelled. It is a government construction company controlled by republican bull. 10 billion a month to other countries (we destroy and we fix) and targeted to certain political persuesion. If that money wasnt spent on this war, I guarentee the market woul dbe much better. How can we destroy a country then rebuild it, for OUTRAGEOUS prices. Man hours X pay. Our taxes should go to fix our own crisis INSTEAD of rebuilding a country after we leveled it. rich get richer, poor get for free, and the middle class is left to foot the bill. we suffer to survive, we do what we have to do. LOL, whatever, I know a few people who are not as busy as they would like, I ask them, "what tools do you have?" After the reply, you can see what market they can attack. All tools can do all jobs, certain tools, vertain jobs. Open your creative side and get out of your comfort zone and target and tackle other kinds of jobs. Oh well, I just wasted my time.

Re: Work Poll

Uhh, ???

Sure people may be working out of their comfort zone. That's the point.
Economic indicators use # of bldg permits as their barometer. This would show you may not have a permit job, but you may have smaller work going on instead. Simple: you either have a job site to go to or you don't day by day.

IMO, this would be a true measure of actual production.

And NO! He is not a "Republican Bull". He IS the Government. Him, David Rockefeller, Alan Greenspan and a few others. But that is a very LARGE story that I will refrain from speaking of in greater detail.

I was NOT referring to Incumbent heads of Departments. I was referring to the Actual Government. The one we do not elect.

Look at Bernankes Resume'. Then look at Greenspans. Ya might see the connection........

Re: Work Poll

Tim sounds like a good idea, cause guys could see how work is in other parts of the Country who come to this site. I know in my area alone alot of guys aren't working, I myself sat for 3 months, the phone wasn't ringing, but now that we are getting closer to this election being over I am getting some calls for estimates again. then as for this bailout, this whole lending deal started with Clinton.
But yeah, I think it would be interesting to see how everyone spends their time, when I don't have work, I work on my house, my truck whatever just to keep from thinking about lossing everything, yeah you can reinvent yourself but if the phone aint ringing, then what? stand by the road and wave a sign what you do?

Re: Work Poll

I guess contractors are over unemployment? or maybe it isn't enough. Thats why I went to college. Not for an education, but to find a wife. Someone who is career minded and will make money when i don't. When work is slow, I collect and she makes her money. That is the best thing I could have ever done in my life. I din't find a local girl who would wind up not working, this day and age all need to work, or work at a WAWA or WalMART. I made a move that put my life on a good path. Steady good income, and I would get to build and vaca and do all I need to do. Work all year if I want or take a month off. I have 3 kids and everything works out. Her mother doesn't work, that was how it was then, and she just helps out with the kids....... She is a real great help. That goes along with my move, getting a college girl for a wife, her parents were and are stable. When time is slow for me, I just renovate my home. My project this year was a second story addition on my home. everything is in place and Saturday we build. Instead of going for a new house with a 200 + thousand dollar mortgage, I only owed under 70k on my house so i just refi'd for 60k and will have a brand new 2 story house for under 130k. NEW EVERYTHING. 1st floor and second. You cant beat that. NO WAY. After I finish I BET, 3 or 4 people in this area ask me what and how I did it, and then will contract me to do theirs for them. so work for me will be steady for a while. If all goes well as it has for me.

I think there are a couple of names for this scenario. But I won't be the one to mention them.

Doesn't that go against your "union" values
