Re: Wish Me Luck

I'll sometimes work for 25, if it's a friend or it's one of those cool projects your just dieing to do. However, I don't offer up hourly too easily.

Sorry to hear about that rate in Texas Copus. I imagine migrant workers have a little to do with that.

Dart, if I was you, for the first few weeks, I'd dig up some good sub rates, then compare them to the fella's speed and quality, math in your cost of management, and see how it's treating you.

Be careful, 25 is about 50k a year, it can turn into a long train with little or no brakes.

Re: Wish Me Luck

We (biz. partner and I ) have about 10+ workers.
We hired a young guy (23) a while ago at $20 per hour.
Married kid - we knew his family. Experienced framer from age 16. Also knew a little about everything in carpentry and even some masonry.

....WOW, did my life get a whole lot easier!!!

Nice kid, nice personality, has his own truck and tools, and .... HE DOES GREAT WORK!
He easily became the new forman.

I say - If the works there....it's worth it.

I was really getting stressed out. It frees me up to spec, design, develop and check on more of our other jobs. He came at the right time too....we have become completely swamped with work...
