Windows & Doors From AWS

Working a master bedroom, bath and closet addition, I got a quote today for 5 single lite casement windows overall RO 32" x 92" tall with 6 lite transoms and 6 lite bottoms about 2 ft tall on the top and bottom of the casements. (Both fixed). Quote is $680 each. They're tempered. HO asked for hi end windows so the idea is to get the best we can buy in vinyl or fibreglass. Money not too important to HO if we get good quality, but I want to do him right. These are from AWS here in Fort Worth TX. Anyone have experience with AWS windows? Price look like it's in the zone for high end vinyl windows? Any thoughts as to how to figure out why one hi qual window is better quality than another, other than listening to the sales pitch?

These two sites will assist you. Salespeople (except me) will feed you whatever they sell.

Appreciate that Doug. Good sites. I picked up a good vendor for premium windows there and will contact them tomorrow.

Thanks--I'm facing a work stop because the HO has been holding up the window order trying to pick different styles and now have to get them quick as we can. Looking at a 10 to 12 day lead time to get them no matter what, so going to have to move my crew to another job or suffer some down time with them it looks like.

Check out Simonton windows they offer a week turn around. They are great windows even though I use better windows

What do you use as "better windows"? One of HOs concerns is that his existing house has "drafty" windows and wants to make sure we do this house with "really good" windows. I looked at his existing windows--they are vinyl thermabreak so I suspect a faulty installation, tho they were installed during new construction by the builder 5 yrs ago. We may replace all his existing windows too if that is the case.

Just curious...why vinyl or fiberglass? Maintenance issues like painting, rot, or termites? I'm in snow country so my first thought is Texas doesn't have the same seasonal difficulties, moisture problems etc...Normally we only use vinyl when doing replacements.
