Are you sure it is Framers in general or just you?

I have respect for framers. Its my understanding most GC'S subcontract out the framing on new construction because its faster meaning guys who do nothing but framing can fly. Also alot of GC'S probably are not young guys anymore and consider that to be a young guys game.

Yeah, I know what ya mean...painters get no respect either and neither do drywallers. In fact, I'd say that framers get more respect than painters or drywallers so at least ya got that. But really, from the outside looking in, framing appears to be the kind of job that anybody can do and is probably low paying. Of course, things never really are as they appear.

Then I'll put on jeans and a "wife beater" white tank top just tell you that your appreciated, welcomed and irreplacable. Every trade brings something to a project and one is dependant on the other in many ways.

Now, with that said, I'm going back to my dress wearing and tell you with my best female attitude "Get off the couch, stop your moaning and get back to work! I need shopping money! "

Re: Why Do Framer's Get No Respect On This Site?

I think there are some people out there who don't respect anyone except themselves. But I for one (and I think a lot of others) respect all the trades.
Actually, framers amaze me. Nothing like seeing a street of housing go from foundation to under roof.

IMO respect is not something that is automaticly given to you but something that you earn, and it's not a 1-way street, you have to show respect to others to have it reciprecated back to you.

Yeah, but remember all your guys ***** runs down hill. All the painter's and paperhangers have to fix or make good everybody's work before them. (when are trim carpenters going to figure out how to fill their own damn nail holes; especially when they use a nail gun like a machine gun!) Make crooked walls appear straight, make bad drywall look smooth, etc. Without the guys after you, all it is is a shell, nobody can use it. In the big picture though, it takes ALL the trades to complete a finished product; without each other, none of us would have a job.

Puhleeeeeze. I learned long ago the dogs with the biggest bark had no bite. Those who stand there quietly are the ones to be wary of.

Re: Why Do Framer's Get No Respect On This Site?

Pansie #1 here. My dress wearing "guns" aren't loaded so I figured I didn't qualify as anything else.

But... while we are at it. Every one of you, except those that are independents who have to do the whole ball of wax, need to stop and pay tribute to the office end too. Painter's can't paint without walls, tiler's can't tile without straight surfaces, framer's can't frame (with or without respect, hehe) without a foundation.. yeah yeah right....

But let me quit and nobody gets the leads (marketing and advertising), a phone or office to locate (financial management and official bill payer), scheduled estimates and jobs (sales), and above all PAID for anything. (Payroll)

See, once again, we all have our place. hehe

ok... back to my cave

Thats THREE mister!

What I have noticed about tradesmen and in fact ANY segregated set of groups within a society is that ALL of them think that their group is the best and ALL of them look down on the others.

Lats take the fast food analogy:

Cooks think they are better than lowly fry cooks
Fry cooks think they are better than the counterpeople
Counterpeople think they are smarter than the cooks
Dayshift thinks they are better than the nightshift
bla bla bla

Sadly, sometimes SELF respect can only be attained by some people if they can think of themselves as better than others...

Truth is that it takes everyone to run a restraunt, and it takes all the trades to construct a building.

None would be complete without the good work of the others.

Now let's all sing:

Kum Ba Yah
Kum Ba Yah, my Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Kum Ba Yah, my Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Kum Ba Yah, my Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Oh, Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Oh, Lord, Kum Ba Yah

Someone's crying, Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Someone's crying, Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Someone's crying, Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Oh, Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Oh, Lord, Kum Ba Yah

Someone's praying, Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Someone's praying, Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Someone's praying, Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Oh, Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Oh, Lord, Kum Ba Yah

Someone's singing, Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Someone's singing, Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Someone's singing, Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Oh, Lord, Kum Ba Yah
Oh, Lord, Kum Ba Yah

Re: Why Do Framer's Get No Respect On This Site?

Actually I was being sarcastic. The thought of all of the hardhats coming together and holding hands while singing touchy feely songs was meant as a silly way to express that I knew my logic would change few if any minds.

However I see your wellfrog as more analogous to an unbeliever hearing the news about something greater than himself from the missionary sea frog.

However this is not the time or place for an eschatological debate
